Kraken Acquires Small Exchange, IG Group's Regulatory-Compliant Trading Platform, in $100 Million Deal

On October 16th, according to official information, Kraken announced today that it has purchased the Small Exchange from IG Group for $100 million. The Small Exchange is a designated contract market (DCM) regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This action paves the way for Kraken to launch a fully U.S.-based derivatives product suite and establish a deep and mature onshore trading venue in the world's largest capital market. Through this acquisition, Kraken will further pursue its mission of building a unified high-performance trading environment. Obtaining DCM status enables Kraken to design and create a derivatives market listed on a U.S. trading platform under the supervision of the CFTC.
