On October 24th, according to CME's "FedWatch" tool, prior to the release of tonight's CPI data, the likelihood of a 25-basis-point Fed rate cut in October stands at 98.3%, while the probability of rates remaining unchanged is 1.7%. The probability of a cumulative 50-basis-point rate cut by the Fed by December is currently 93.4%, the probability of a cumulative 25-basis-point cut is 6.5%, and the probability of rates staying the same is 0.1%. The dates of the next two FOMC meetings are October 29th and December 10th.
