Li Chenggang: Initial Consensus Reached Between China and the United States on Prudently Addressing Multiple Key Economic and Trade Issues

2025.10.26 21:08:30

October 26th: From October 25th to 26th local time, China and the United States held economic and trade consultations in Kuala Lumpur. Deputy Minister Li Chenggang of the International Trade Negotiation Department of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated to Chinese and foreign media after the consultations that the two sides had reached a preliminary consensus on properly addressing various key economic and trade issues of mutual concern, and the next step would be to go through their respective domestic approval procedures. Li Chenggang said, "In the past month or so, there have been some fluctuations and changes in the China-US economic and trade relationship, which have attracted global attention." He mentioned that since the China-US-Japan Geneva economic and trade talks in May this year, the Chinese side has strictly adhered to the consensus reached in multiple phone calls between the leaders of China and the United States, faithfully and earnestly implemented the agreed arrangements of the economic and trade consultations, and carefully safeguarded the hard-won and relatively stable China-US economic and trade cooperation. "The Chinese side does not want to see these fluctuations and changes." Li Chenggang stated, "The US side has adopted a tough stance, while the Chinese side has been firm in safeguarding its interests." During this round of consultations, the Chinese and US economic and trade teams always demonstrated mutual respect and engaged in equal dialogue. In the future, both sides will further strengthen communication and exchanges and make positive efforts for a more stable and healthier development of China-US economic and trade relations. Spot Silver Surges 6.00% Intraday, Now Trading at $93.58 per Ounce

February 27: Spot silver has surged 6% intraday, last trading at $93.58 per ounce, per Bitget market data. COMEX silver (New York) jumped 7% intraday, last at $93.72/oz. ### Notes on American English adaptation: 1. **Date format**: Uses *Month Day* (standard in US news) instead of formal "February 27th" (th optional in casual/quick contexts). 2. **Market jargon**: "Last trading at" / "last at" (common in real-time market updates, replacing "now trading" for precision). 3. **Abbreviations**: "oz" (standard for ounce in financial news), "COMEX" (uppercase, official NYMEX division abbreviation). 4. **Conciseness**: Simplifies "6.00%" to "6%" (decimal zeros omitted in US market updates), avoids redundant phrasing. 5. **Flow**: Separates data sources clearly with "per Bitget" and contrasts the two silver markets smoothly.
