Yellen's Nomination for Fed Chair is Blocked, Republican Senators Demand Investigation into Powell First

2026.03.11 09:00:12

**March 11** Kevin Warsh, President Trump’s nominee for Federal Reserve Chair, has yet to clear a key hurdle in his Senate confirmation process. Republican Senator Thom Tillis says he will continue blocking the Senate Banking Committee from advancing any Fed personnel nominations until the Justice Department wraps up its investigation into current Fed Chair Jerome Powell. Tillis called his meeting with Warsh “pleasant” and noted his professional qualifications. He stressed, however, that the move is not personal toward Warsh but aimed at upholding Fed independence. “If markets believe the Fed chair is merely acting at the president’s behest,” he said, “it could harm financial markets.” With Republicans holding narrow majorities in the full Senate and the Banking Committee, Tillis’s opposition could stall Warsh’s nomination from reaching a floor vote. Warsh is currently actively meeting with lawmakers to rally support, but uncertainty lingers over whether he can secure confirmation before Powell’s term expires in May.

Lattice has announced that it will be shutting down gradually, and its Layer 2 network Redstone will be shut down on May 16th.

April 15th, blockchain gaming infrastructure firm Lattice announced it will gradually wind down operations after five years, with its Layer 2 network Redstone set to cease operations on May 16, 2026, at 07:59 UTC. Lattice is reminding users to withdraw their funds before this deadline—especially assets held in contracts like Uniswap pools. Post-shutdown, only an L1 withdrawal contract will be deployed for external account balance withdrawals; funds in contracts will be unrecoverable. Founded in 2021, Lattice developed tools including the MUD framework, Redstone chain, Quarry, and Dozer—but failed to establish a sustainable business model. The team will use remaining funds for its final project, DUST: The Autonomous World, though the project’s scale hasn’t reached a level to sustain the business, and the team doesn’t believe VC funding is the right path forward.
