Coinbase x402 Payment Protocol natively integrated into Amazon AI Smart Agent Payment Core

Per monitoring from Sentinel Beating (https://t.me/OneMillion_AI), Coinbase has announced the native integration of its x402 payment protocol and wallet infrastructure into Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments (AI Agent Core Payments). This marks the first time AWS has offered native encrypted micropayment capabilities to developers on a mainstream cloud platform. The integration enables enterprise AI agents to autonomously discover services, complete payments using USDC, and execute tasks—all while upholding full compliance governance, budget control, and audit tracing. Settlements finalize on Base and Solana in roughly 200 milliseconds, cost less than a cent, and require no account, subscription, or checkout page. This solution empowers enterprises to securely grant AI agents “financial autonomy” by: - Completing payments via a single API call (agents cannot access private keys); - Setting temporary budget limits (e.g., $1 within 5 minutes); - Leveraging Coinbase’s built-in anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions screening, and end-to-end dashboard logging. Thousands of x402 services (including Exa, Messari, etc.) are already onboarded, supporting real-time search and pay-as-you-go access for agents. x402 is an open-source, neutral protocol governed by the x402 Foundation, which has processed over 169 million payments to date. This collaboration represents a major step forward in the transition of Agentic Commerce to enterprise-level adoption.

Previously, the protocol’s risk framework centered mainly on price volatility and financial risks; it will now be expanded to cover network security vulnerabilities, interoperability, and assessments of underlying technology architecture. Aave also plans to release an official minimum standards guide for project teams to reference, and will shift from analyzing individual money markets in isolation to evaluating cross-protocol systemic risk. This change will enhance overall security and is expected to set a reference standard for the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry.
