Tencent Customer Service: WeChat is currently conducting a grey-scale test for the AI assistant "Xiao Wei"

2026.06.20 16:49:53

On June 20th, Tencent’s customer service confirmed that WeChat’s Xiaowei—its native AI assistant—is currently undergoing small-scale internal trials conducted by the WeChat team. A customer service representative stated that Xiaowei allows users to operate WeChat’s built-in functions via text or voice commands, including adjusting settings, sending messages, and making calls. The assistant uses multiple AI models, such as Tencent’s self-developed models and high-quality open-source models. Currently, Xiaowei is in a gray-scale testing phase covering multiple systems; users should refer to their actual device page displays to check if they qualify for the trial.
