Trump was reportedly making frequent calls to Waller, and the so-called "Fed mouthpiece" confirmed: "Yep, multiple calls"

A White House economic policy reporter revealed that since Walsh took office as Federal Reserve Chair, Trump has called him multiple times, maintaining a rare line of communication between a U.S. president and the central bank chief. Nick Timiraos, known as the "Fed Whisperer," responded to the revelation: "The president’s calls to Walsh come in fits and starts—sometimes several times in a few days, then long stretches with no contact. Trump has sought Walsh’s input on a range of issues, including the Iran war and the economic impact of the rapid rise of artificial intelligence." Earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent singled out Nick, noting that one key aspect of Walsh’s tenure as Fed Chair is observing so-called "stenographers in press clothing"—like The Wall Street Journal’s Nick Timiraos, previously dubbed the "Fed Whisperer"—who are reduced to reporting on behind-the-scenes Fed gossip, as they cannot produce genuine economic or monetary policy analysis without being fed information.
