Hardware wallet manufacturer Coldcard announced that due to legal record-keeping obligations tied to the security incident disclosed on July 30, the company has temporarily suspended automatic customer data deletion. Under its original policy, customer records are typically automatically purged after 120 days, with only details like email addresses and country of residence retained. Going forward, such records will be kept until further notice. Coldcard noted that customers may reach out to official support to request adherence to the original data retention policy, and the automatic deletion mechanism will be reinstated once legally allowed.
