The Kobeissi Letter stated that companies in the Russell 2000 index with negative earnings per share (EPS) have risen a cumulative 154% since mid-2025, while those with positive EPS have only gained 34% over the same period. So far this year, unprofitable companies in the Russell 2000 have climbed 45%, outperforming profitable firms' 18% rise. Driven by this trend, the Russell 2000 has rallied 20% year-to-date, on track to post its best annual performance since 2003. In comparison, the S&P 500 has gained 11% over the same period, while the US tech "Magnificent Seven" has risen just 4%. The top-performing small-cap stocks are mainly tech and infrastructure firms poised to benefit from AI spending. The market is rewarding AI-related exposure, regardless of whether the companies are profitable or not.

Retail investors are cashing out profits from tech stocks, with net selling of SanDisk worth $125 million last week.

Last week, retail investors net sold $125 million worth of SanDisk stock, marking the largest net sell of any individual stock. They also net sold $120 million of Apple and $105 million of Tesla, respectively. In the same period, retail investors net sold $65 million of Nvidia, $40 million of American Airlines, and $22 million of Meta stock. Over the past two weeks, net sales of Apple and Tesla by retail investors have each reached $200 million. Meanwhile, total retail individual stock trading volume rose to a record $370 billion, up from $220 billion at the start of 2026. Following a historic tech stock rally, retail investors are locking in profits.

Trillion-dollar asset management giant T. Rowe Price launches its first actively managed multi-token crypto ETF.

T. Rowe Price, which manages approximately $1.9 trillion in assets, has officially launched TKNZ, an actively managed multi-token spot crypto ETF that began trading on the NYSE Arca on Thursday. The asset management firm noted this is the industry’s first actively managed multi-token spot crypto ETF. At launch, TKNZ held around $15 million in assets, with initial allocations including 40.75% Bitcoin, 18.42% Ethereum, 11.01% BNB, 9.44% SOL, 9.37% XRP, and 6.45% HYPE. The fund permits portfolio managers to actively adjust token allocations based on T. Rowe Price’s research and market insights, charging a 0.75% management fee. According to the fund’s prospectus, it will not generate revenue from staking its holdings in the initial phase but retains the option to introduce staking in the future. T. Rowe Price first submitted an application for the fund in October 2025. Blue Macellari, the firm’s head of digital assets, serves as chief portfolio manager, with four co-managers participating in the fund’s management.
