Masahiko Loo of State Street Investment Management said the Bank of Japan (BOJ) may bring forward its next interest rate hike to September or October, instead of the six-month interval many had anticipated. The strategist forecasts the BOJ will gradually move toward a terminal rate of 1.5% to 1.75%. During Friday’s press conference, BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda voiced deep concern over the risk of inflation overshooting, stating this risk cannot be overlooked. Ueda remarked: “If we deem financial conditions too loose, accelerating interest rate hikes is entirely possible.”

Michael Burry, the real-life prototype of *The Big Short*, disclosed his latest portfolio adjustments via his Substack account today, noting that he has further increased his short position in Micron Technology (MU) with an average entry price of approximately $880. He also continued to raise his short exposure to NVIDIA (NVDA) and added to his short position in the semiconductor ETF SOXX at an average price of around $506. Meanwhile, Burry increased his long positions in several individual stocks: he added to Lululemon (LULU) at an average price of roughly $118, DraftKings (DKNG) at about $23.40, and Zoetis (ZTS) at around $76; he also further upped his holdings in Flutter (FLUT). Notably, Burry made no adjustments to his existing positions in Tesla (TSLA) and Palantir (PLTR), keeping his original holdings unchanged.

According to Bitget market data, the USD/JPY pair saw a sharp short-term plunge, with an intraday drop of 0.5% to 158.63.

Coinbase increased its Bitcoin holdings by 819 coins in the second quarter of 2026, bringing its total Bitcoin position to 17,311, making it the ninth-largest corporate entity holding Bitcoin.
