Public Monday agenda released by the U.S. Senate indicates the CLARITY Act is not on this week’s consideration schedule. If the Senate submits a cloture motion on Wednesday, August 5, the earliest possible vote on the measure would be Friday, August 7. However, this vote only concerns ending debate on the “motion to proceed with the bill” — not the final passage of the CLARITY Act. Should cloture pass, the Senate would still need: up to 30 hours of debate on the motion to proceed, formal consideration of the bill, and potentially another cloture procedure.
