SoftBank’s quarterly net profit decline was smaller than expected, with gains from its chip investments boosting its performance.

Japan's SoftBank Group has reported a smaller-than-expected decline in its quarterly net profit, driven mainly by gains in its chip-related investment portfolio, while the firm awaits further returns from its investment in OpenAI. The Tokyo-based technology investment company saw its first fiscal quarter net profit drop 18% to 347.3 billion yen (about $2.2 billion), as unrealized gains from its chipmaker investments offset the drag from falling startup valuations. By comparison, the market had forecast the company's net profit to be roughly 166 billion yen.

After his personal wealth overtook that of Wang Jianlin, Justin Sun responded: "I feel no elation, only vigilance. It is always right to believe in young people."

Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List data shows Justin Sun’s net worth of $8.5 billion has surpassed Wang Jianlin’s $4.4 billion. In response, Sun said: “No ups and downs, only wake-up calls. Wang Jianlin was once a ‘god of the era,’ just as I was once a young person no one believed in. The cruelest part of era changes is that those at the peak are always the last to notice. So today, if a young person tells me something I don’t understand or even want to mock, I can no longer hold the same confidence I had when dealing with Wang Sicong. I will pour him a cup of tea and let him talk about his world. Because arrogance is always the first asset to be liquidated. We can never predict the future, but trusting young people is always the right thing to do.” In 2019, Sun spent roughly 31.54 million yuan to purchase Warren Buffett’s charity lunch. Back then, Wang Sicong shared the related article on his WeChat Moments with a mocking caption.

South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister for Economy delivered a speech to stabilize market sentiment in the morning, but the country's stock market suffered another heavy blow in the afternoon.

South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mu stated this morning that amid overseas risk shocks, only the stock market has suffered a severe blow, an unusual and rare situation unlike in the past, but the government and central bank have sufficient policy tools to address market volatility caused by external shocks. However, the market did not respond positively to Choi's market-stabilizing remarks. According to Bitget market data, at today's close, South Korea's KOSPI index dropped 302.82 points, a 4.59% decline. Heavyweight stocks SK Hynix fell 10.3% and Samsung Electronics slid 6.3%. After a sharp rebound last Friday, South Korean stocks have seen more losses than gains this week, seemingly on track to enter a new round of gradual decline and deleveraging.

Uniswap founder responds to launch platform fee policies: the 2% bid-ask spread is launchpads’ primary "harvesting" tool.

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams responded to community queries, noting that the 1% liquidity pool fee adopted by some token launch platforms is equivalent to a roughly 2% bid-ask spread and serves as their main revenue extraction method. This not only increases trader costs but also causes initial liquidity pools to become inefficient after the token’s scale expands. He believes that Uniswap’s self-built pools.trade, which uses a 0.25% fee and automatic fee reinvestment, is more conducive to long-term liquidity. Additionally, LPs (liquidity providers) of these launch platforms typically come from zero-cost locked assets, so there is no price risk that requires high fees to compensate for.
