Microsoft has opened its largest data center in Hyderabad, India, targeting the AI economy and local compliance requirements.

Microsoft announced the official launch of its fourth cloud region in India, the India South Central region, in Hyderabad. The new region features three availability zones and an elastic design compliant with Indian regulatory standards and seismic zone requirements, capable of supporting large-scale mission-critical workloads. With this launch, Microsoft now operates four cloud regions in India, making it the largest hyperscale cloud service provider in the country. Microsoft stated that the new region will offer Indian enterprises more localized options to modernize critical systems, build new digital services in the AI era, and translate AI visions into measurable business impacts under an enterprise-grade security, compliance, and governance framework. Early adoption demand has been strong, with leading Indian companies including Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, and PB Pay among the first to leverage the region. Microsoft revealed that Azure has maintained strong double-digit growth in India over the past two years, and the launch of the new region will further accelerate this momentum.
