Serenity: Revenue inflection points for most AI data center companies are likely to occur in the second half of 2027

Serenity noted in a report that Riot Platforms (RIOT) has signed a $9.1 billion agreement with Anthropic, with a 20-year term; if all subsequent extension options are exercised, the total value could reach up to $16.1 billion. It also stated that AMD has exercised its option to expand its existing partnership with Riot, and Riot has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with a potential tenant for another 1GW campus. On project timelines, Serenity pointed out that the revenue inflection point for most data center hosting-related stocks is likely to occur in the second half of 2027. For example, the Riot-Anthropic partnership is scheduled to deliver its first 96MW capacity in December 2027, while the AMD-related 50MW capacity is expected to be fully operational by May 2027. Serenity said it is "interesting" to see companies like IREN, which were once primarily focused on Bitcoin mining, gradually growing into AI data center and computing power infrastructure providers.

Oraichain hit by cross-chain vulnerability, unauthorized ORAI tokens minted, network suspended.

Oraichain released a statement saying that yesterday’s incident stemmed from a vulnerability in the EVM cross-chain transfer path, which led to the unauthorized minting of ORAI tokens. Since 04:00 UTC on August 9, the network has been suspended, and bridge contracts, cross-chain paths, and public interfaces have been restricted to contain the incident’s impact. Oraichain noted that the relevant vulnerable path has been identified and addressed, and associated fund transfer routes have also been restricted. The team is working closely with partners and centralized exchanges to limit further fund flows and protect affected assets. Investigations and account reconciliations are ongoing, while the team is preparing to restore ORAI’s standard token supply—including burning the unauthorized minted balance, as well as verifying and repairing the state of affected protocols.

SK Hynix has indirectly become the largest shareholder of Kioxia via SPC2, holding a 14.19% stake.

SK Hynix has become the largest shareholder of Japanese NAND flash manufacturer Kioxia indirectly via the special purpose company SPC2 it invested in. Kioxia disclosed that its largest shareholder has changed from Toshiba to BCPE Pangea Cayman2 (SPC2), which currently holds a 14.19% stake in the firm. Toshiba previously held a 15.10% stake in Kioxia, but after selling shares in seven tranches between July 15 and August 3, its holding dropped to 14.06%—lower than SPC2’s 14.19%. In 2018, SK Hynix invested approximately 4 trillion won in Kioxia via two special purpose companies, with SPC2 (which it retains) accounting for around 1.3 trillion won of that total, structured as convertible bonds. If the relevant convertible bonds are converted into shares, SK Hynix could become a voting shareholder of Kioxia. However, for SK Hynix to obtain voting rights, it still needs approval from competition laws and antitrust regulators across multiple countries. The Japanese government may also reject the application over concerns for protecting its domestic semiconductor supply chain, so the possibility of SK Hynix directly influencing Kioxia’s operations remains low for now. Kioxia is Japan’s largest NAND flash manufacturer, and currently ranks third in global NAND market share, trailing Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
