Ethereum Foundation Executive Director Clarifies: Pectra Upgrade Unrelated to Controversial EOF, Former Will Be Released on Schedule

2025.04.28 13:32:18

On April 28th, Tomasz K. Stańczak, the Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, issued an important clarification regarding the EOF debate. He stated that the EOF is a topic of intense discussion, but there is a key misunderstanding that needs to be addressed. The current EOF discussion is not related to the upcoming Pectra upgrade, which is scheduled to be released on May 7th. The Pectra upgrade does not include EOF and has no intention of including it. All of Pectra's content will be released as planned on May 7th. Earlier, CoinDesk reported that the Ethereum "EVM Object Format (EOF)" improvement proposal has been included in the Pectra hard fork, which is expected to be implemented later this year or early next year. The EOF proposal will make a series of minor changes to upgrade the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). EOF will make smart contracts more developer-friendly, especially for those building decentralized applications using the Solidity or Vyper programming languages. However, it may break existing smart contracts. Developers have added a new version, allowing DApp builders to choose which version of the EVM to use when deploying their code.

Robinhood Executive: Firm Still Advancing Innovative Exemption Process for Tokenized Stocks with SEC

Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood’s crypto business, stated during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 that Robinhood is still advancing its process related to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s "Innovation Exemption" for tokenized stocks. Kerbrat added that Robinhood’s tokenized stock trading volume could eventually reach the regulatory limits set by the SEC. The SEC previously rolled out the Innovation Exemption, which permits eligible tokenized securities trading platforms to conduct on-chain stock transactions while meeting relevant conditions, though it imposes restrictions on the number of tradable stocks and trading volume. Robinhood is currently exploring tokenized stock-related business; the SEC’s Innovation Exemption framework requires holders of tokenized stocks to enjoy the same rights and interests as holders of traditional stocks, and sets conditions on trading varieties, trading volume, disclosure, and other aspects.
