Ethereum Researcher Proposes Increasing Gas Limit by 100x to Improve Mainnet Scalability

2025.04.28 17:16:25

On April 28th, according to The Block report, Ethereum researcher Dankrad Feist proposed in the Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP-9698) released on Sunday to gradually multiply the Ethereum gas limit by 100. As per the proposal, Ethereum clients will vote to raise the gas limit in accordance with an exponential growth plan. The proposal presents a "deterministic gas limit increase schedule" where it will increase by a factor of ten every two years (164,250 blocks), and the plan is scheduled to commence in June 2025. If the proposal is implemented as suggested by Feist, the gas limit will experience a 100x increase over the next four years, going from the current 36 million to 3.6 billion, which will notably enhance the performance of the Ethereum main network. Feist is aware of potential challenges such as the pressure on less optimized nodes and the increased block propagation times. However, he believes that the gradual increase will provide node operators and developers with sufficient time to adapt and optimize. Fabrice Cheng, an Ethereum ecosystem developer, stated that this change theoretically would raise Ethereum's transaction processing speed to 2,000 transactions per second.

Robinhood Executive: Firm Still Advancing Innovative Exemption Process for Tokenized Stocks with SEC

Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood’s crypto business, stated during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 that Robinhood is still advancing its process related to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s "Innovation Exemption" for tokenized stocks. Kerbrat added that Robinhood’s tokenized stock trading volume could eventually reach the regulatory limits set by the SEC. The SEC previously rolled out the Innovation Exemption, which permits eligible tokenized securities trading platforms to conduct on-chain stock transactions while meeting relevant conditions, though it imposes restrictions on the number of tradable stocks and trading volume. Robinhood is currently exploring tokenized stock-related business; the SEC’s Innovation Exemption framework requires holders of tokenized stocks to enjoy the same rights and interests as holders of traditional stocks, and sets conditions on trading varieties, trading volume, disclosure, and other aspects.
