Ethereum Developers Discuss Free DA Issue and Mitigation Strategy Arising from EIP-7886

2025.05.06 14:32:37

On May 6th: The Ethereum developer @nero_eth released an article that delves into the "Delayed Execution and Free DA Issue." Delayed Execution (EIP-7886) modifies the verification process. Validators verify the validity of a block through prechecks (such as nonce and balance) before the transaction is fully executed. If a transaction fails during execution due to insufficient balance (for example, Transaction A exhausts Account B's balance, causing Transaction B from B to fail to pay Gas), its data is written into the block and processed by validators but without any payment. This leads to the Free DA Issue: invalid transactions occupy on-chain data availability resources, and validators do not receive compensation. The article puts forward four solutions: optimistic verification, pre-validation and pre-charging, pre-charging entities and execution layer no-op. These solutions ensure that the cost of data writing is deducted in advance through fees, block reorganization, or state rollback, preventing network congestion and economic injustice caused by Free DA.

Robinhood Executive: Firm Still Advancing Innovative Exemption Process for Tokenized Stocks with SEC

Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood’s crypto business, stated during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 that Robinhood is still advancing its process related to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s "Innovation Exemption" for tokenized stocks. Kerbrat added that Robinhood’s tokenized stock trading volume could eventually reach the regulatory limits set by the SEC. The SEC previously rolled out the Innovation Exemption, which permits eligible tokenized securities trading platforms to conduct on-chain stock transactions while meeting relevant conditions, though it imposes restrictions on the number of tradable stocks and trading volume. Robinhood is currently exploring tokenized stock-related business; the SEC’s Innovation Exemption framework requires holders of tokenized stocks to enjoy the same rights and interests as holders of traditional stocks, and sets conditions on trading varieties, trading volume, disclosure, and other aspects.
