Matrixport: Ethereum Takes Key Step Towards Upgrade with Pectra

2025.05.07 15:56:17

On May 7th, Matrixport presented a market commentary regarding the Ethereum Pectra upgrade. "Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently indicated that Ethereum is set to move in a more concise and robust direction, drawing inspiration from Bitcoin's minimalist design philosophy in the core protocol. Vitalik advocates for simplifying the key code of the consensus layer and enhancing the network's scalability through mature zero-knowledge proof (ZK) and Optimistic Rollup technologies." "The upcoming Pectra upgrade on May 7th integrates the 'Prague' and 'Electra' upgrade proposals and incorporates 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs). It focuses on improving the network's scalability, security, and user experience. Key upgrades involve introducing an account abstraction mechanism (EIP-7702), increasing the validator cap (EIP-7251), and doubling the data block ('Blob') throughput (EIP-7691) to reduce transaction costs on Layer 2. Although there were some initial issues during the testnet phase, Pectra is still regarded as a crucial step in Ethereum's development journey."

Robinhood Executive: Firm Still Advancing Innovative Exemption Process for Tokenized Stocks with SEC

Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood’s crypto business, stated during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 that Robinhood is still advancing its process related to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s "Innovation Exemption" for tokenized stocks. Kerbrat added that Robinhood’s tokenized stock trading volume could eventually reach the regulatory limits set by the SEC. The SEC previously rolled out the Innovation Exemption, which permits eligible tokenized securities trading platforms to conduct on-chain stock transactions while meeting relevant conditions, though it imposes restrictions on the number of tradable stocks and trading volume. Robinhood is currently exploring tokenized stock-related business; the SEC’s Innovation Exemption framework requires holders of tokenized stocks to enjoy the same rights and interests as holders of traditional stocks, and sets conditions on trading varieties, trading volume, disclosure, and other aspects.
