The SEC Questions the Legitimacy of REX's Ethereum and Solana Staking ETF Submission

2025.06.01 08:40:21

On June 1st, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) voiced concerns regarding the Ethereum and Solana staking ETFs launched by REX Shares and Osprey Funds. It was suggested that these ETFs might not meet the definition of an investment company and an ETF under federal securities laws. The SEC pointed out that these products might have problems such as improper registration statements and misleading disclosures. A formal letter was issued to ETF Opportunities Trust. REX has stated that they will not proceed with launching the product until the relevant legal issues are settled. (Bloomberg)

The event expands the competition’s reach to three emerging Web3 markets—Australia, Africa, and Latin America—marking a key step in HSK Chain’s global ecosystem expansion. Scheduled from August 19 to September 29, 2026, the initiative covers six regional developer communities: Brazil, Nigeria, Colombia, Kenya, Bolivia, and Sydney, Australia. Coinbase launches new matching engine for Deribit, capable of processing over 100,000 orders per second.

Coinbase announced the phased deployment of a new-generation high-performance matching engine on Deribit. Built on dedicated infrastructure, the engine can process over 100,000 orders per second with a matching latency of less than 1 millisecond, designed to enhance execution speed, scalability, and liquidity performance for institutional derivatives trading. This upgrade also integrates Deribit into the same core execution infrastructure as Coinbase International Exchange. Coinbase noted that the new engine adds a built-in "speed bump" mechanism to select trading products, which briefly delays active orders to give liquidity providers more response time in fast, volatile markets, and is expected to help market makers offer tighter bid-ask spreads and deeper order books. The company added that all its perpetual contracts will also migrate to this matching engine later this year. Once the migration is complete, options and perpetual contracts will share a more unified trading infrastructure, enabling a more consistent trading experience, broader product coverage, and deeper liquidity.
