July 19th. In its latest analysis released on Friday, The Kobeissi Letter stated that ETH/USD is on the verge of reaching $4000. Ethereum is currently preparing for a rare short squeeze in the history of cryptocurrency. If the price increases by another 10%, short positions worth $1 billion will be liquidated. The liquidation of short positions could lead to a rebound in ETH's price to $4000. Ethereum's current price is $3553, and its recent price movement has been described as "making history" as the rise of ETH has triggered a record-breaking short squeeze. Kobeissi stated that as the largest market capitalization altcoin, Ethereum is punishing shorts at an extremely rare pace.

According to market data from BIT (bit.com), the US-listed optical communications sector opened mixed. Leading optical communications giant Coherent (COHR) fell over 3% despite its new quarter’s earnings guidance exceeding all market expectations. The company reported Q4 fiscal quarter revenue of $2.05 billion in yesterday’s after-hours trading, up 34% year-over-year, beating the market forecast of $1.98–$2.02 billion. It projected Q1 fiscal quarter revenue of $2.20–$2.40 billion, higher than the expected $2.13 billion, with adjusted EPS forecast at $1.85–$2.05, also above the consensus estimate of $1.77. Pure Photonics ETF (FOTO) rose 0.05%; Corning (GLW) fell 0.19%; Marvell Technology (MRVL) gained 1.73%; Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) dropped 1.10%. AAOI is a manufacturer of high-speed optical modules (800G/1.6T) focused on AI data center transceivers. Lumentum Holdings (LITE) declined 0.39%, a core supplier of optical communications lasers and modules serving major AI data center players. Coherent Corp (COHR) fell 3.76%, a leading provider of lasers, optical components and photonics solutions covering data center and industrial sectors. Ciena Corporation (CIEN) advanced 0.93%, which produces high-speed SerDes and connectivity chips and specializes in low-power interconnections for AI data centers.

Hardware wallet Trezor’s customer data was leaked by a logistics provider, leading to the theft of sensitive information of over 13,000 customers.

Hardware wallet provider Trezor has disclosed that its fulfillment partner ShipMonk suffered a data breach, exposing the personal data of 13,689 Trezor customers. Among them, 11,742 had their full names, phone numbers, email addresses, and shipping addresses stolen, while 1,947 had their names, cities, and emails compromised. Affected customers placed orders between May 10 and August 8, with shipping addresses covering the U.S., U.K., Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal. Trezor emphasized that its own systems were not breached, and its devices, private keys, and wallet backups remain unimpacted, noting the leak’s scope is currently under control. The company warned affected customers to be vigilant against phishing attacks, never to input their wallet recovery phrases or backups online, and to exercise caution toward any unsolicited communications.
