The bank argues that market concerns over Microsoft’s AI infrastructure being "built too fast and spent too much" are overblown, noting that the company’s data center expansion remains aligned with its commercial cloud revenue growth, and AI investments will continue to support Azure, Copilot, and its enterprise software ecosystem. Microsoft’s share price has rebounded notably recently, rising roughly 30% since the release of strong earnings at the end of July, returning to positive territory for the year. Even after the rally, Microsoft’s valuation remains below its historical high range, with its AI and cloud businesses continuing to underpin earnings growth, per Bernstein. The report specifically points out that Microsoft’s long-term lease obligations total $329.1 billion, spread across fiscal years 2027 to 2033, with some contracts extending up to 20 years; hardware commitments for fiscal 2027 are approximately $169 billion, after which they will decline significantly. This means Microsoft is not locked into a single short-cycle AI hardware expenditure, and can reallocate data center resources to traditional cloud and software services in the future.

According to monitoring by ai_9684xtpa, Hyperliquid trader DoshiAtoll opened a short position of 1,576.23 BTC at 8 AM today, valued at roughly $100 million. The short entry price was $64,039, with 40x leverage, and it currently has an unrealized profit of approximately $456,000. Following the establishment of this position, the two largest BTC holdings on the Hyperliquid platform are now both BTC short positions, drawing market attention to the bearish sentiment of large capital.

According to Lookonchain monitoring, Japanese Bitcoin reserve firm MetaPlanet transferred 1,473 BTC an hour ago, worth roughly $93.82 million. Separately, Bitcoin miner Hut 8 moved 493 BTC three hours ago, valued at approximately $31.36 million. The two firms collectively transferred a total of 1,966 BTC, with a combined value of around $125 million.

The cross-chain bridge connecting the XRP Ledger and Coreum was hacked on August 9, with attackers exploiting a vulnerability to steal approximately 199,916 XRP, reducing the bridge’s asset balance from roughly 200,410 XRP to just 493.5 XRP. Analysis indicates the attack targeted neither the XRP Ledger itself nor involved any private key leaks, instead exploiting a flaw in the Coreum cross-chain bridge’s validation logic. The attackers forged fake deposit operations, tricking the bridge system into recognizing them as legitimate deposits, which triggered the other end of the bridge wallet to send actual XRP to the attackers. On-chain data shows the attackers completed the fund transfer in 97 minutes via 94 multi-sig authorization transactions. These transactions required 17 out of 28 relay node keys to sign off, meaning the attackers successfully bypassed the bridge system’s validation mechanism. As of August 11, the Coreum cross-chain bridge remains suspended, and the Coreum Development Foundation has not yet released an official incident report. The incident affected third-party cross-chain infrastructure, not a vulnerability in the XRP Ledger protocol layer, and the security of the XRP mainnet and user private keys was not compromised.
