Semler Scientific reported a significant increase in Q4 net profit due to the revaluation of its Bitcoin holdings.

2025.02.19 06:32:15

On February 19th, Semler Scientific (SMLR) implemented a new "Fair Value" accounting standard in the 2024 Q4. This led to a revaluation of its Bitcoin assets, causing a $28.85 million increase in its holdings. The FASB introduced this standard in March 2024, and it requires companies to report digital assets at market value starting from 2025 Q1, with early adoption being allowed. This adjustment caused the Q4 net income to surge to $29.2 million, and the Earnings Per Share (EPS) reached $3.64, which is a substantial increase compared to the $4.2 million ($0.62 per share) in the same period last year. As a result, Semler's stock price rose by 2.1% on Tuesday.
