Vitalik: There is currently no "ETH 3.0"; Strengthening the Ethereum Mainnet is the Top Priority

2025.02.19 21:08:29

On February 19th, the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik, answered the question regarding "ETH 3.0" during a text-based AMA conducted on the Tako platform. He stated: At present, there is nothing that can be referred to as "ETH 3.0." Some might consider Justin Drake's 5-year plan to be such, but that plan only pertains to the consensus layer and not the execution layer. Therefore, it is just a part of Ethereum's blockchain's future. The relationship and balance between L1 and L2 fall under the domain of the execution layer. Here is another roadmap: · Enhance the capabilities of L1. · Improve cross-L2 interoperability and enhance blobs, etc. I also believe that the issue of whether L2 is paying an adequate amount of transaction fees to L1 cannot be evaluated from too short a time perspective. For example: · Before EIP-4844, the common complaint was the opposite: Is L1 draining the lifeblood of L2? · Currently, in the last 30 days, the blob fee was 500 ETH. If the blob target is increased from 3 to 128, according to our plan, if the blob gas price remains unchanged, it will consume 21333 ETH every month, which is 256,000 ETH per year. So, the narrative can change rapidly here. Now, we need to strengthen L1 so that what should occur on L1 can take place on L1, increase blobs, and then maintain the adaptability of our community.

Peak Forecast for Major Cryptocurrencies in This Bull Market: Bitcoin Could Rally to $190,000, Ethereum to $8,800

Crypto analyst alicharts, using long-term K-line charts of major crypto assets, predicts the tops of leading cryptocurrencies in this bull run from a technical analysis perspective as follows: Bitcoin’s first target is its previous high of $125,000; if it breaks through this level, it may test the upper boundary of its ascending channel, near $190,000. Ethereum’s monthly chart shows it has followed an ascending channel over the past five years, with the channel’s upper rail near $5,000 as a key level to watch. A break above this level is expected to push ETH toward $8,800. Solana’s monthly chart appears to be forming a cup-and-handle pattern, with its neckline around $295. A monthly close above this neckline would strengthen the bullish case, and the pattern’s projected potential target is near $2,744.
