Metis Foundation's Natalia Ameline: Launching the ReGenesis Plan to Reshape the Ethereum Ecosystem for the AI Age

2025.02.24 22:16:39

On February 24th, Natalia Ameline from the Ethereum Layer2 Metis Foundation sent a letter to all community members, stating that the core reason for Ethereum's poor performance in this round is that the social experiment of Web3 has come to an end and DeFi innovation has reached a bottleneck. Solana has sacrificed decentralization in exchange for ultimate performance and reduced usage costs; Base relies on the Coinbase ecosystem to create a good on-chain experience. Next, Metis will act as a reformer to save the Ethereum ecosystem and even lead the entire blockchain ecosystem upgrade, embracing full Web3+AI. Metis has launched the ReGenesis plan to bet on the AI ecosystem, supporting the Andromeda network upgrade + a brand-new high-performance architecture foundation. ReGenesis also plans to create a complete AI+Web3 flywheel: 1. Andromeda + New Chain Architecture: Provide a high-performance AI computing and transaction environment; 2. LazAI: Decentralized AI training data to ensure AI value alignment; 3. DAT: Integrate AI assets into the Web3 economy to create a new AI economic model; 4. Verified Computing: Measure and trade AI assets to create an AI asset market; 5. Increased User and Developer Engagement: Drive the self-growth loop of AI+Web3.

According to a post by Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet has launched the "BitBonds" bond issuance program and completed its first batch of issuances. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Metaplanet Securities, the company issued the 21st to 24th series of unsecured ordinary bonds under Japan’s small-scale private placement system, totaling approximately 200 million yen. Gerovich noted that the small-scale issuance is primarily a pilot, designed to establish the framework for BitBonds’ subsequent issuance, distribution, and management. BitBonds are unsecured ordinary bonds and are not collateralized by Bitcoin held by Metaplanet. Metaplanet will leverage its Bitcoin reserve balance sheet and its subsidiary securities firm’s capabilities in financial product issuance, distribution, and management to further build out its related financial product platform.

Former senior Japanese foreign exchange diplomat: Yen intervention could resume at any time, and the Bank of Japan may raise interest rates in September.

Mitsuhiro Furusawa, a former senior Japanese foreign exchange diplomat and ex-deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated that at current exchange rate levels, the yen is clearly too weak and is damaging Japan’s economy by pushing up import costs. He noted that if the yen returns to its level before last month’s coordinated intervention, Japan and the U.S. could conduct another joint foreign exchange market intervention at any time, with no fixed target level such as 160 or 162 yen. Furusawa added that intervention only buys time, and a more fundamental solution is for the Bank of Japan (BOJ) to accelerate its pace of interest rate hikes. He forecasts the BOJ will raise interest rates in September, followed by another hike in December or January next year. He estimates the BOJ ultimately aims to lift rates to around 1.5% to 1.75%, a projection based on his estimate of the neutral interest rate, which ranges from 1.1% to 2.5%. If the economy maintains its growth momentum, further rate hikes could be possible in the fiscal year starting April 2027. (Jinshi)
