Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Executive Order Full Text Released: Treasury Department Oversight, Institutions Must Report Bitcoin Key Transfer Authority Within 30 Days

On March 7th, as per the full text of a White House executive order, the Secretary of the Treasury is required to establish an office for the management and control of a custody account known as the "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve." The capital in this account will consist of all BTC held by the Treasury. This BTC was seized as part of criminal or civil asset forfeiture proceedings or seized to fulfill any civil fine imposed by any executive department or agency (Agency). Within 30 days from the date of this order, Agencies shall review their authority to transfer any government-held Bitcoin to the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and submit a report to the Secretary of the Treasury reflecting the outcomes of the review.
