El Salvador Dips Into Its Reserves to Buy 1 More Bitcoin, Now Holding 6,105.18 BTC

On March 9th, based on the data from the website of the Salvadoran Ministry of Finance, El Salvador once again augmented its Bitcoin holdings this morning. Currently, it holds 6,105.18 bitcoins, with a value exceeding $527 million. It has increased its holdings by 13 bitcoins in the past 7 days and by 36 bitcoins in the past 30 days. Despite the pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) urging El Salvador to cease accumulating the decentralized value storage asset, El Salvador has purchased 13 bitcoins since March 1st. In December 2024, El Salvador reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund to obtain a $1.4 billion loan from the organization. As part of this agreement, the Salvadoran government agreed to withdraw BTC's legal tender status in the country and reduce the public sector's engagement with Bitcoin.
