Following the release of non-farm payroll data, the U.S. dollar weakened, Bitcoin surged then pulled back, and gold rose.

SharpLink co-founder Joseph Chalom has published a statement opposing Ethereum’s EIP-8361 proposal, dubbed “Tapered Issuance Burn”. He notes that the proposal would drastically reduce network staking rewards: as Ethereum’s staking ratio rises, validator rewards would be gradually burned, falling to zero when staked ETH reaches roughly half of the total supply. At that point, validators would only be able to operate on transaction tips, which currently make up around 15% of total rewards. Chalom warns this would weaken the DeFi ecosystem, erode ETH’s native yield advantage over Bitcoin, raise on-chain capital costs, and push some small and medium-sized staking operators out of the market. Chalom argues the proposal is particularly ill-timed, as Ethereum is currently seeing massive institutional adoption: examples include Robinhood building a new chain on Ethereum’s layer 2 network, BlackRock tokenizing its money market fund shares on-chain, and BNY Mellon integrating staking services into its custody platform via a partnership with Galaxy Digital. He states that SharpLink agrees ETH should become more scarce over time, but advocates achieving this goal through the existing base fee burn mechanism, rather than making fundamental changes to the protocol’s economic foundation at this stage. EIP-8361 calls for gradually increasing the burn rate of validator rewards as Ethereum’s staking ratio rises, bringing net issuance rewards on the consensus layer to zero when roughly 50% of ETH supply is staked, in order to eliminate incentives for further staking.

Crypto analyst Alicharts has published a lengthy article stating that Bitcoin’s macro bottom may have already formed, citing three key indicators: 1. A TD Sequential buy signal has emerged on Bitcoin’s monthly chart. This rare indicator previously successfully marked the 2022 market bottom, and is now signaling a similar low. 2. Bitcoin is hovering near its 50-month simple moving average. Since 2014, this multi-year support level has repeatedly aligned with major market bottoms. 3. The Chande Momentum Oscillator (CMO) has dropped to -71. The last time it reached this level was in June, when Bitcoin fell to around $57,000. Historically, such low readings often coincide with significant market bottoms. Note: The Chande Momentum Oscillator gauges the relative strength of upward and downward price momentum over a given period, helping to determine if a market is overbought or oversold, as well as the strength of its trend.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has published a post noting that MiniMax H3 is the first open-source video model to surpass Tencent’s HunyuanVideo 1.5. He also affirmed the latter’s long-standing leading position. MiniMax H3, an open-source multimodal video generation model launched in August 2026, supports unified inputs of text, images, video and audio, and can produce 15-second 2K videos with native stereo, ranking first in video editing benchmarks.

Crypto asset management firm Bitwise’s Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said that if the Clarity Act fails to pass this week, the market may experience short-term volatility but will prepare for a rebound in the fall.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a post noting that Signal recently announced it is exploring enabling users to register accounts without a phone number. He welcomed the move, stating it helps reduce reliance on the highly oligopolistic phone number system, lowers identity security risks stemming from SIM swap attacks, and makes it harder for governments to pressure Signal to ban local users on nationality grounds. Vitalik also pointed out that while this measure is superior to the status quo in privacy protection, it only delivers "confidentiality" rather than true anonymity, as metadata such as message send time, frequency, and recipient could still be used to piece together identity links. He argued that with the advancement of AI technology, long-term persistent anonymous accounts have become outdated, and the only defensible form of privacy is "unlinkability per message"—meaning no one except the communicating parties knows their identities. This direction is currently being explored and advanced by emerging communication tools like Session and SimpleX, as well as mixnet projects. Additionally, protection against spam and denial-of-service attacks will also be a key priority to address moving forward.

U.S. interest rate futures market pricing indicates that a 28 basis point rate hike is expected by December, down from the 32 basis point projection prior to the release of non-farm payrolls data. Additionally, July’s non-farm payrolls data came in weak, driving a sharp surge in U.S. Treasury prices.
