Local time on Wednesday, the U.S. Treasury Department issued $42 billion in 10-year Treasury notes, with the auction’s winning yield rising to its highest level since 2007. While investors still showed some demand, the required return for purchasing U.S. Treasuries has grown increasingly higher. The 10-year Treasury yield had earlier climbed to around 4.75%, an 18-month peak. Meanwhile, the 30-year Treasury yield hovered above 5.2%, and the upcoming 30-year Treasury auction on Thursday is projected to see financing costs reach roughly the highest level in 25 years. This implies that even if the Federal Reserve does not raise interest rates in September, the U.S. government’s long-term financing costs may not decline. Analysts note that this situation signals the core contradiction in the current U.S. interest rate market: policy rates are determined by the Fed, but long-term borrowing costs are increasingly driven by a combination of fiscal factors, inflation, oil prices, and investor risk appetite.

According to Bitget market data, the Nikkei 225 index closed up 784.53 points on Thursday, August 13, a 1.16% gain, to 68,308.59 points. South Korea’s KOSPI index closed up 210.97 points on the same day, a 3.21% rise, ending at 6,790.01 points. SK Hynix rose 5.9% and Samsung Electronics gained 3.9%.

The three major A-share indices pulled back in the afternoon session, with the Shanghai Composite Index and Shenzhen Component Index turning negative, while the ChiNext Index’s gains narrowed to 0.58%.

According to News1, South Korea’s Mirae Asset Group will inject 50 billion won (approximately $36 million) into crypto exchange Korbit via a third-party private placement capital increase. The round will issue around 10.0786 million new common shares priced at 4,961 won each, all allocated to majority shareholder Mirae Asset Group, which currently holds a 97.15% stake. The payment deadline is August 27, with the funds earmarked mainly for improving Korbit’s financial structure and operating capital. Earlier, Mirae Asset Consulting, a non-financial subsidiary of Mirae Asset Group, announced it had acquired a 91.73% stake in South Korean crypto exchange Korbit on July 22, with plans to purchase the remaining 5.42% stake on July 24. The transaction will bring Mirae Asset Group’s total holding in Korbit to 97.15%, with the full acquisition valued at approximately 141.367 billion won (around $102 million).

According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi (@ai_9684xtpa), the hacker group Lazarus Group is making large-scale BTC transfers: 2 hours ago, it moved 262.2 BTC to a new address, worth $16.64 million, likely intending to launder the funds; currently, the group still holds over $73.06 million in on-chain assets, primarily in BTC, USDT and ETH.
