THORChain has announced the launch of version 3.20, adding native cross-chain swap support for Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC). Users can directly swap XMR and ZEC for BTC, ETH, and stablecoins without requiring wrapped assets, centralized exchange accounts, or surrendering custody of their funds. The upgrade also introduces Protocol-Owned Liquidity (POL) and Stable Reserve, while restoring support for Solana, Base, and BNB. The Stable Reserve enables zero-liquidity-fee swaps between stablecoins. According to GMGN monitoring, the Solana ecosystem meme coin CYBERLEEK, issued by the hacker group behind the GTA 6 leak, has surged over 40% in the past four hours, with its market cap rebounding to $14.5 million. The hacker group calling itself Cyberleek launched the Solana-based meme coin CYBERLEEK after leaking GTA 6 gameplay footage, claiming it would release a PC client for GTA 6 to let everyone play the $2 billion blockbuster title for free (this client claim has since been debunked). On August 22, Cyberleek publicly burned approximately 270 million developer-reserved tokens, accounting for around 27% of the total supply, touting this as "proof that it will not dump the coin and run away". However, the group still holds a large number of tokens and continues to profit from transaction fees. Security firm Socket has discovered a batch of malicious crypto wallet extensions targeting Firefox users, linking them to a cyberattack campaign dubbed "Offside Wallet Theft Factory". To date, 77 extension identities have been associated with the campaign, of which 40 are confirmed malicious. The activity spanned at least from March to August 2026. The extensions mainly masquerade as popular Web3 wallets including OKX, Rabby Wallet and TronLink, luring users to import their existing wallets via highly realistic interfaces to steal mnemonic phrases or private keys. Approximately half of the extensions directly prompt users to input mnemonic phrases; 13 are tampered Rabby versions that exfiltrate wallet account data to external servers when users save their account information; another 5 extensions collect stored credentials and clipboard contents. Socket also found that at least 9 malicious extensions previously operated as sports score apps (covering soccer, basketball, NBA, etc.), building up user bases and positive reviews before updating their code to replace it with wallet-stealing scripts. Additionally, 37 extensions disguised as tools like password generators, VPNs and exchange rate converters actually run sports score programs. Socket warns that if users have entered mnemonic phrases or private keys into the relevant extensions, their wallet credentials should be considered permanently compromised. Uninstalling the extensions alone cannot reverse the leakage of already exfiltrated mnemonic phrases or private keys; users should immediately transfer their assets to a new wallet.

Crypto asset manager Bitwise has launched Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs), allowing eligible non-U.S. users to automatically replicate and regularly rebalance professional portfolios designed by Bitwise’s investment team via self-custody wallets. Built on Coinbase’s tokenized U.S. equities and executed through Glider, the product initially covers themes including the U.S. Magnificent Seven, SpaceX, robotics, and AI leaders, charging a 0.15% methodology access fee that excludes transaction and platform fees. Bitwise stated that the relevant tokenized stocks are always held in users’ non-custodial wallets, eliminating the need to transfer assets into a fund or entrust them to a custodian. Matt Hougan, Bitwise’s chief investment officer, noted that ATPs let investors access professional portfolios without surrendering custody of their assets. As assets remain on-chain and self-custodied, users may also use the tokenized stocks for lending in DeFi protocols in the future, though they bear all associated risks. Bitwise currently manages around $9 billion in crypto assets and has been expanding its on-chain investment product lineup this year.

Crypto asset custodian Copper is currently attracting potential buyers, with bids coming in far lower than its earlier asking price of around $500 million. According to people familiar with the matter, two to three offers have been received, valued at roughly $200 million. Headquartered in London, Copper also operates a Swiss entity, and its ClearLoop trading system is primarily targeted at institutional clients. The firm reached a peak valuation of around $2.5 billion during the 2021 crypto bull run, and has raised over $300 million in total funding. Cantor Fitzgerald was tasked in May this year with finding a buyer for Copper at a target valuation of roughly $500 million. People familiar with the matter added that Copper’s preferred share structure, stemming from its earlier high-valuation financing rounds, is also posing challenges to the deal, as preferred shareholders typically hold priority over common shareholders in asset distribution and profit proceeds. Copper shut down its enterprise custody business in 2023 to focus on ClearLoop. Data from the firm’s official website shows ClearLoop currently has over 1,000 active counterparties, with monthly notional trading volume exceeding $50 billion.
