Changxin officially announces mass production of LPDDR6, with a peak data rate of 12800Mbps and a maximum chip capacity of 16GB.

Changxin Technology has officially announced that its independently developed latest-generation low-power memory LPDDR6 has entered mass production, and will be first deployed in the Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable flagship smartphone. This marks the first commercial rollout of LPDDR6 products worldwide, signifying that a Chinese storage firm has for the first time broken the long-standing overseas manufacturers’ monopoly on being the first to launch high-end memory standard products. According to Changxin’s semi-annual report, the performance of its LPDDR6 chips has achieved a comprehensive leap over the previous LPDDR5X generation: through architectural innovation and data transmission optimization technologies, it fully unlocks data transmission potential, with a peak rate of 12800Mbps and a maximum chip capacity of 16GB. LPDDR6 is the current global latest-generation LPDDR product. In July 2025, the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC), the international standards body, released the LPDDR6 standard for the first time. In March this year, industry sources had already reported that Changxin’s LPDDR6 products had been sent for testing. From standard alignment, product sampling, verification to mass production and commercialization, Changxin has successfully achieved the global first launch of LPDDR6. Against the backdrop of explosive AI demand, LPDDR6 is regarded as a key pillar for unleashing edge AI computing power, with application scenarios covering smartphones, PCs and other devices, extending to smart cockpits, AI data centers and more. It also lays a critical foundation for domestic terminal manufacturers such as Chinese smartphone brands to seize AI opportunities.
