According to monitoring data from TradingBeats (formerly Hyperinsight), as of press time, CXMT has dropped from around $8.813 to $8.369, a 5.03% decline in the past four hours. Affected by this, the unrealized loss of CXMT’s largest short position has narrowed from approximately $6.69 million to $5.4036 million, a reduction of about $1.29 million. This short position currently holds 2.9006 million CXMT contracts, with an average entry price of $6.505, and the position’s value stands at roughly $24.2723 million. Although the unrealized loss has narrowed significantly, the trader has cumulatively paid around $4.5895 million in funding fees since opening the position; combining the unrealized loss and funding fee costs, the total amounts to approximately $9.9931 million. Previously, CXMT’s funding rate had been persistently negative, with an accumulated hourly rate of about -12.31% over the past 30 days, meaning shorts continuously paid funding fees to longs. However, since 5:00 today, the latest settled rate has been positive for seven consecutive hours, with the 11:00 settlement value at +0.000625%. In the past four hours, CXMT’s contract open interest (OI) has increased from 6.9256 million contracts to 6.9467 million contracts (+0.30%); in dollar terms, OI has decreased from $61.0335 million to $58.1164 million (-4.78%), mainly due to the price drop.

South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) will operate its virtual assets task force until 2028, in preparation for the implementation of the Digital Asset Basic Act.

South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) announced it will operate a digital asset task force until 2028 to prepare for the enactment and implementation of the Digital Asset Basic Act, including advancing preparations for subordinate legislation and building digital asset ecosystem infrastructure. The FSC noted that South Korea's current digital asset regulatory framework has so far focused primarily on cracking down on illegal activities and preventing investor losses, while institutional development at the industry and market levels—covering operational conduct, information disclosure, and asset issuance and circulation—remains insufficient. Accordingly, the FSC plans to, through the Virtual Assets Committee and consultations between political parties and the government, finalize the core provisions of the Digital Asset Basic Act by the end of 2026 and promote the establishment of a more robust comprehensive regulatory system. The FSC also pointed out that South Korea is advancing the development of a digital asset-related ecosystem, with plans to improve infrastructure centered on organizations such as industry associations. The report further noted that the law on the institutionalization of South Korea's security tokens (ST) was passed by the National Assembly in January 2026 and is scheduled to take effect in February 2027, with the FSC continuing to refine relevant subordinate regulations and supporting systems.

YAM Finance fell victim to a governance takeover attack, as the attacker submitted an empty proposal in an attempt to seize control of the Timelock.

Security firm Defimon has issued an alert, detecting a governance takeover attack targeting YAM Finance. The attacker self-delegated approximately 504,000 YAM tokens, accounting for ~3.3% of the total supply (slightly above the legal voting threshold), then submitted YamGovernorAlpha Proposal #45, which has an empty description ("0x"). Its sole operation is calling the setPendingAdmin method of the YAM Timelock contract, pointing to the attacker’s address. According to the disclosure, if the proposal passes and is executed, the attacker will become pendingAdmin, then can fully control the Timelock via acceptAdmin—granting them management rights over all YAM protocol contracts and the DAO treasury, with an estimated risk amount of around $337,000. Since the protocol is currently dormant, Defimon Alerts reminds YAM holders to vote against this proposal before block height 25897343 (approximately 34 hours remaining).

Analysis: Bitcoin demand turns negative again, may face a new round of decline in the short term.

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost noted in a post that Bitcoin (BTC)’s current selling pressure remains stable, while short-term holders (STH) continue to realize profits. However, the market’s “apparent demand” has turned negative again, signaling a notable drop in BTC demand over the past several days. He added that this weakening demand is also reflected in BTC’s price structure, with its trend growing increasingly fragile. If demand fails to recover in the very short term, BTC could enter a new round of decline. Darkfost stressed that the market’s direction is not yet fully clear, urging investors to remain cautious.

Bank of Japan Policy Board Member Takata Sō: The pace of interest rate hikes may require flexible adjustment, and should not be limited to 25 basis points each time.

Bank of Japan (BOJ) Policy Board member Takashi Tada stated that the BOJ must consider multiple policy options instead of limiting itself to 25 basis point rate hikes each time, and may adopt a rate hike pace different from the usual roughly once every six months. Tada noted that 2026 will mark a shift in Japan’s monetary policy. With global rate hike trends driven by economic growth and artificial intelligence (AI)-related investments, the BOJ needs to implement policy approaches different from those used in the past.
