London Stock Exchange Platform to Launch UK Tokenized Equity Structures, Partner with Payward

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has announced plans to launch tokenized equity structures in the UK, and has partnered with financial infrastructure platform Payward to explore how regulated market infrastructure and native digital distribution models can support the development of a tokenized public equity market. The initiative aims to expand access to capital markets while preserving shareholder rights, investor protections, and governance standards in existing public markets. The partnership will focus on researching digital wallet interactions, connections between on-chain ecosystems and traditional regulated capital markets, and exploring the application of public and private blockchains in securities markets while meeting regulatory requirements such as anti-money laundering (AML) and operational resilience. Additionally, the London Stock Exchange plans to list and trade xStocks on its 24-hour trading platform LSE 24 in 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
