Zhihu invests a whopping 1.5 billion yuan to establish an AI subsidiary, marking a shift in its AI strategy from product trial runs to an independent business entity.

The U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) recently analyzed and found that roughly $9 billion in shadow banking activity suspected to be linked to Iran flowed through U.S. correspondent bank accounts in 2024. Of that total, around $5 billion originated from foreign shell companies, while another $4 billion involved foreign oil enterprises suspected of acting as Iranian front companies. The report noted that Iranian-linked entities do not need to hold direct U.S. bank accounts to access the U.S. dollar system, instead using intermediaries and correspondent banks in financial hubs such as the UAE, Hong Kong, and Singapore. These networks layer transfers through shell companies, exchange firms, and entities in sectors including oil, shipping, investment, and technology to obscure the funds’ ties to Iran. Beyond traditional financial channels, Iran is increasingly relying on cryptocurrency to evade sanctions. Reuters previously estimated that Iran-related cryptocurrency activity reached $8 billion to $10 billion in 2025. The U.S. government has recently expanded the scope of its secondary sanctions on Iran, including sectors such as digital assets, gold, technology, aviation, and shipping.

According to Binance’s official disclosures, in the first half of 2026, the Binance Wallet Security Center helped users avoid approximately $540 million in potential losses, conducting real-time risk interception across multiple areas including spam transfers, malicious transactions, and authorizations. Data shows that during H1, the security center filtered around 206 million spam transfers, protecting 2.6 million users; identified roughly 4.93 million high-risk transactions across 19 blockchains; and detected approximately 996,000 malicious authorizations. Binance stated that attackers are leveraging AI to mass-generate malicious code, phishing websites, and fake identities, leading to a nearly threefold month-over-month increase in new malicious entities. Attack patterns have also shifted from "mass phishing" to more precise targeted fraud. The exchange added that its security system has started using AI to analyze the behavioral logic and risk intentions of tokens and websites, with a focus on identifying emerging attacks such as "buy-only" tokens and hidden backdoors. Users should still verify the specific details of operations before signing transactions, and regularly scan for risky authorizations and assets via the Binance Wallet Security Center.

Over the 12-month period ending September 6, the top-performing sector in the crypto market has been privacy assets. The total market cap of privacy tokens has surged to $33.6 billion from $7.1 billion a year ago, representing a roughly 3.7x increase, with nearly half of this market cap growth coming in the past 30 days. ZEC is the core asset driving this sector’s rally, jumping 2496% over the past year. It accounts for around 62% of the total privacy sector market cap, and its ranking has surged from #82 to #7. Over the same period, XMR’s price doubled, while DASH, XMR, and ZEN all outperformed Bitcoin (BTC) in the past 90 days. 91.5% of the top 200 crypto assets by market cap have gained in the past 30 days, but only 25 assets have posted gains over the past year. Notably, the privacy sector is the only segment whose overall market cap is now higher than its peak on October 6, 2025, up 213% from that level. Beyond ZEC, the broader privacy asset index has still risen 85% over the past year, indicating this rally isn’t driven by a single token alone.

Singapore’s DBS Bank and Citibank’s New York branch completed the first weekend U.S. dollar payment between Singapore and the U.S. on September 5 via Swift Digital Ledger, settled using tokenized deposits. DBS noted the transaction took just minutes, while traditional cross-border U.S. dollar payments typically take up to two business days. The trial aims to overcome limitations of traditional banking hours, weekends, and time zones to enable 24/7 cross-border fund transfers, with relevant use cases including cross-border e-commerce and digital services. Citigroup joined Swift’s tokenized deposit-based 24/7 cross-border payment pilot in July this year and plans to participate in building the U.S. tokenized deposit network. DBS launched its blockchain-based banking system in 2024, which includes DBS Treasury Tokens for liquidity management.
