Insilico Medicine’s AI-developed drug detects anti-aging signals in human trials, with six aging clocks all showing a reduction in biological age.

Beating AI News Brief: Biotech firm Insilico Medicine has published new research in *Nature Biotechnology*. The study analyzed phase IIa clinical data for Rentosertib, an AI-designed drug developed by the company, and found that treated patients showed signals of reduced biological age across six protein-based aging clocks. Rentosertib is primarily used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The research analyzed blood samples collected from 42 patients at four time points over 12 weeks, estimating "biological age" based on changes in thousands of proteins. The treatment group as a whole trended toward younger biological age, while the placebo group showed little to no change or a slight increase. The group taking 30mg twice daily had the most consistent signals. However, this does not yet prove the drug can actually reverse aging or extend lifespan. All study participants were patients with pulmonary fibrosis, and the sample size was small. The paper’s authors note that it is currently impossible to fully distinguish whether these changes stem from anti-aging effects or improvements related to treating pulmonary fibrosis. Confirming genuine anti-aging effects will require further validation in healthy populations.

Bloomberg: SpaceX Poised to Benefit from Potential Nasdaq 100 Index Weight Increase

According to Bloomberg, SpaceX’s share price has been trading in a narrow range recently, but a new wave of buying may be coming soon as the Nasdaq 100 index will undergo its quarterly rebalance later this month. The key factors include a little-known rule in the construction of this tech-heavy benchmark and the staged lock-up period arrangements for shareholders of Elon Musk’s satellite and space exploration company. These elements have limited the number of SpaceX shares available for trading in the current market.
