Symbiosis said it has recovered approximately 15 BTC and has offered the attacker a 20% white hat bounty.

Cross-chain liquidity protocol Symbiosis announced that around 04:28 UTC on September 11, its Bitcoin bridge was attacked, with the perpetrator exploiting a vulnerability. BTC-related routes have been suspended. Symbiosis clarified that the incident only impacted the Bitcoin Bridge; the affected system has been isolated from other components, while other cross-chain routes (including EVM chains, TRON, TON) and Octopools remain unharmed and operational. The team has recovered roughly 15 BTC, now held in a multi-sig wallet controlled by the team. For the stolen funds, Symbiosis has issued a 20% white hat bounty to the attacker, with a deadline of September 13. If the attacker fails to return the funds, an equal proportion bounty will be offered to anyone who can assist in recovering the assets. The final loss amount is still being tallied, and the team will contact affected liquidity providers individually to develop a compensation plan. Separately, on-chain security monitoring firms noted that the incident involved Symbiosis BridgeV2 abnormally minting syBTC, leading to approximately $336,000 in WBTC losses; the relevant vulnerability is currently being resolved.

Saudi Arabia shuts down its East-West Oil Pipeline that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz, adding fresh upward pressure on oil prices.

After a key oil pipeline was attacked, Saudi Arabia announced the temporary shutdown of its 1,200-kilometer east-west oil pipeline. The pipeline connects major oil fields in eastern Saudi Arabia to Yanbu Port on the Red Sea, serving as a key route for Saudi crude exports bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The Saudi Ministry of Energy described the shutdown as a "precautionary measure", with no timeline for resumption announced. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the pipeline was hit by a drone attack from the Iraqi side, and that Saudi Arabia will not retaliate for now. Meanwhile, Iran-backed Houthi forces have recently carried out repeated attacks on Saudi energy facilities and advanced toward the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, further raising shipping risks in the Red Sea. Oil markets have quickly priced in the supply risks. Brent crude closed at $104.56 per barrel on Friday, with a weekly gain of over 8%. Saudi Arabia’s crude exports via Yanbu Port stood at just around 2.5 million barrels per day in August, the lowest level since 2013. With alternative export routes blocked, Saudi Arabia’s crude supply capacity faces further downward pressure. As two major energy shipping routes—the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb Strait—face risks simultaneously, markets are reassessing the likelihood of global crude supply disruptions.

Citrini Research was acquired by SemiAnalysis, and its founder plans to launch a new fund.

Beating AI News Brief: James van Geelen, founder of Citrini Research – the firm behind the "AI Doom Report" – has sold his company to semiconductor and AI research firm SemiAnalysis. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Van Geelen will temporarily remain as Citrini’s CEO and plans to launch a new fund. Citrini currently has around 260,000 subscribers on Substack. It rose to prominence in February this year after publishing the report "2028 Global Intelligence Crisis", which envisioned AI rapidly displacing white-collar jobs, sparking market discussions about AI’s impact on employment and the economy, and at one point significantly impacting software stocks. SemiAnalysis was founded by Dylan Patel in 2020 and has long focused on semiconductor and AI infrastructure research. Patel stated that the acquisition aims to expand research scale and explore new forms of investment research in the AI era. Van Geelen has not disclosed specific details about the new fund. The deal also means Citrini, after rapidly expanding its influence, will further integrate with SemiAnalysis’s semiconductor and AI research capabilities.

Codex Product Lead: Multiple quality issues with Astra have been fixed, and Astra will be reset before midnight today.

Beating AI News Flash: OpenAI Codex Product Lead Tibo has issued an update addressing recent quality complaints from Astra users, stating the team has identified and fixed multiple defects and will perform a reset by midnight local time (12 PM Beijing Time). Tibo noted that after collaborating with some users, the team confirmed and resolved the following issues: 1) Old model skill triggering anomalies: Skills built for previous models were triggering too frequently, or preventing the model from reviewing its own work. 2) Context management experiment disabled: An optional context management experiment could cause premature termination or outdated message responses, and has now been turned off. Rough estimates indicate approximately 4,000 to 5,000 users were affected by this experiment. 3) Misconfigured engines removed: Some engines were improperly set up, leading to measurable quality declines in tail-end traffic flowing through them, and have now been removed. Additionally, the team has made several minor improvements, saying the overall experience should see noticeable enhancements, including more consistent execution, more accurate tracking of users’ latest messages, and better result checks during workflow progression.

Polymarket features an "extremely accurate" account group: 42 bets, 41 correct predictions, all placed on KPMG audit firm.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, a group of 19 interconnected Polymarket accounts placed concentrated bets on the financial results of KPMG-audited listed companies over the past several months. Of the 42 trades, 41 were profitable, delivering a 98% win rate and cumulative gains of roughly $22,000. Bubblemaps analysis revealed these accounts had previously wagered on 18 KPMG clients including Wells Fargo, Home Depot, DoorDash, and General Mills, with funds flowing in complex patterns between the 19 accounts, sparking suspicion they were controlled by the same individual or team. Notably, this development comes as U.S. law enforcement probes a KPMG employee suspected of insider trading via Polymarket. The WSJ previously reported the employee is under investigation for betting on whether listed companies’ quarterly results would beat market expectations. It remains unconfirmed whether the identified account group is linked to this employee, and Bubblemaps stressed that its analysis alone does not prove insider trading. KPMG said it has "zero tolerance" for trading using non-public client information and has strengthened relevant monitoring. As the prediction market expands rapidly, insider trading risks on Polymarket are drawing sustained attention from regulators and law enforcement.

Meme coin CATGPT briefly surged past $17 million in market capitalization, hitting a new all-time high.

According to GMGN market data, Robinhood ecosystem meme coin CATGPT briefly surged past $17 million in market capitalization, hitting an all-time high, and has since pulled back to $15.3 million. Its trading volume reached $5 million in the first three hours post-launch. CATGPT is traded in pairs with OPENAIx1L (OPENAI 1x Long tokenized position) via the Long.xyz platform. Long.xyz is a meme coin launch platform on Robinhood Chain, focusing on the innovative "crypto-stock meme" model, which directly links traditional meme coins with tokenized U.S. stocks, forming a dual-driven mechanism of "sentiment speculation + real asset anchoring". The platform allows users to issue meme tokens and pair them directly with on-chain U.S. stock tokens (such as NVDA, TSLA, AAPL, etc.), rather than pairing with traditional assets like USDT or ETH. A portion of transaction fees flows back to the community treasury to accumulate the corresponding U.S. stock tokens, creating a unique value capture model. OPENAI currently has high IPO expectations, but as it remains unlisted, traditional markets do not offer direct long opportunities. On-chain platforms like this provide speculative exposure through such tokenized long positions paired with meme coins, an upgraded iteration of the earlier model where stock tokens like NVDA were paired with meme coins. BlockBeats reminds users that related tokens are highly volatile and carry significant uncertainty, urging investors to exercise caution.
