Crypto analyst Darkfost posted that the known Bitcoin reserves held by addresses of over-the-counter (OTC) trading platforms have dropped to an all-time low, standing at around 123,000 BTC, down from nearly 500,000 BTC in September 2021. The continuous decline in OTC reserves could stem from multiple factors, including investors' growing preference for long-term BTC holdings, a more decentralized Bitcoin ownership structure, and miners and other market participants no longer primarily selling BTC via OTC channels. Additionally, some holders may prefer to sell directly on public markets. Regardless of the specific reasons, the sharp reduction in OTC reserves means fewer BTC are available for sale outside public markets. According to CNBC, as oil prices rebound and U.S. Treasury yields climb, bearish sentiment among individual U.S. stock investors has surged notably.
