A spread trader allegedly failed to adjust their position in time, resulting in the liquidation of BTC short positions valued at $10.16 million.

According to TradingBeats' monitoring, a short-term rally in Bitcoin (BTC) triggered liquidations totaling $65.6 million in short positions on Hyperliquid. Among these, the BTC short position of 122.88 BTC held by an address starting with 0xec0b was fully force-closed by the system in two rounds, with a liquidation volume of approximately $10.165 million, marking the largest single liquidation on the platform. This BTC short position was opened on September 4, with an average entry price of around $81,335.90, and held for about 17 days. The average execution price of the forced liquidation was roughly $82,720.70, meaning BTC had risen only about 1.7% from its entry cost, resulting in a realized loss of approximately $170,200. Meanwhile, the address’s long Ethereum (ETH) position remains open. It currently holds 7,007.8 ETH in long positions, valued at around $18.951 million, with an average entry price of about $2,065.97 and an unrealized profit of roughly $4.473 million. The address previously held a simultaneous long ETH / short BTC position, a spread trade essentially betting on ETH’s relative strength against BTC. However, during BTC’s short-term rally, the short side hit the liquidation threshold first, forcing the original position pair to be unwound.
