CME Group to Launch BCH and Uniswap Futures to Expand Crypto Derivatives Portfolio

The People's Bank of China (PBoC) reaffirmed today during financial education and publicity that virtual currencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, and Tether have no legal tender status and cannot circulate as currency. All virtual currency-related business activities conducted within China are illegal financial activities and are strictly prohibited. The PBoC stated that without approval from relevant authorities, domestic entities and their controlled overseas entities must not issue virtual currencies overseas, and any domestic or foreign entity or individual must not issue RMB-pegged stablecoins overseas. The central bank reminded the public not to participate in virtual currency issuance, trading, investment, or mining activities, to beware of high-yield investment scams, and to avoid renting out bank cards, payment accounts, or engaging in virtual currency-related activities. Additionally, the PBoC advised the public to stay alert to virtual currency investment products and trading platforms that claim "guaranteed no loss" or "high returns"; refrain from participating in virtual currency issuance, trading, investment, mining, and other activities; avoid joining communities promoting virtual currencies, clicking links to overseas virtual currency trading platforms, or downloading related apps; do not lend or rent out bank cards or payment accounts, follow others' instructions to buy or sell virtual currencies for transfer purposes, or act as "runners", "currency dealers", or "USDT traders"; and report any clues related to virtual currency business activities to the relevant regulatory authorities in a timely manner.

In Kalshi's Ethereum perpetual futures trading between September 17 and 20, orders with a near-$5,499 single transaction amount generated $7.7 million in turnover, accounting for 57% of the analyzed trading volume. Among the 46 sampled dates since June, 43 saw repeated fixed-amount transactions. Kalshi’s public data does not disclose trader identities, and the exchange has not explained the parties behind these repeated transactions or the reasons for changes in the target amount. Earlier, quantitative analyst Beni published an article questioning prediction market platform Kalshi for artificially inflating crypto trading volume, citing multiple data points as evidence. According to CNBC, prediction market platform Kalshi has submitted an application to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) via its clearing subsidiary Kalshi Klear, seeking to introduce margin trading for select event contracts to allow eligible traders to use leverage. Currently, event contracts on U.S.-regulated exchanges require full collateralization. While Kalshi already offers leverage in its perpetual futures operations, it has not been authorized to apply this to its prediction markets. Kalshi noted that this feature is designed to attract more institutional liquidity. If approved, it will only be accessible to self-clearing members meeting capital requirements, and will not cover sports, cultural, or "mention-based" markets. The company also plans to raise margin requirements as contracts near expiration.

According to an official announcement, the U.S. Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) will launch Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI) futures to expand its crypto derivatives portfolio. Market participants can select contract sizes based on their trading needs: BCH futures (250 BCH) and micro Bitcoin Cash futures (25 BCH); UNI futures (10,000 UNI) and micro Uniswap futures (1,000 UNI).

According to official announcements, Robinhood will host its 2026 HOOD Summit from the 29th to the 30th. Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev will unveil new products and updates for active traders at the event. Additionally, per recent teaser posts from Robinhood and Vlad’s official accounts, the summit will also roll out updates on tokenized stocks, including revisions to its dividend reinvestment program and more.

According to HTX market data, UNI and BCH both saw minor short-term gains, driven by the launch of futures products on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). UNI rallied 2.99% while BCH climbed 2.07%.
