Yuga Labs’ Vice President of Blockchain, Quit, released a statement saying that at 9 a.m. ET today, attackers exploited a vulnerability in Payment Processor V2 to steal 10 Meebits, 50 Otherdeeds, 10 WoW, and 235 Desperate Apewives. The incident was reported to the team more than 12 hours later, and a subsequent investigation revealed that a large number of NFTs faced similar risks. Quit noted that after contacting the LimitBreak team, the latter swiftly suspended the similarly affected Payment Processor V3. However, V2 could not be paused, and V3 on ApeChain was also temporarily un-suspendable. As a result, the team launched a white hat operation, transferring and securing a total of 23,155 NFTs valued at over $5.7 million. The team later discovered the same vulnerability could also be abused to steal WETH, with approximately 660 WETH at risk that could not be recovered in time. All rescued NFTs have now been moved to secure addresses; holders will be able to claim their assets after revoking authorizations for the vulnerable contract.

Xie Jiayin, head of Bitget’s Chinese-language region, released a statement noting that theft incidents and handling protocols vary across different security events. Bitget will resume withdrawals as soon as all risks are eliminated, and hopes users will grant the platform sufficient time to complete security checks.
