Beating AI Express reports that Vercel has launched the anonymous large language model Pixel Canary on its AI Gateway, offering it for free for a limited time while the model’s identity remains confidential. Cline has also integrated with Pixel Canary for free. Vercel states that the model is primarily targeted at programming, front-end, and mobile app development, supporting both building new applications and refactoring existing code. In Vercel’s Next.js Agent Evals, Pixel Canary posted a baseline success rate of 90%, tying with GPT 6 Astra (high) and outperforming Kimi K3’s 84% rate. The success rate rises to 97% when supplemented with Next.js official documentation AGENTS.md. The evaluation uses real-world Next.js development tasks, with each task allowed up to 4 attempts, and is marked as passed if at least one attempt succeeds.

Aerodrome and Velodrome will merge into a unified cross-chain DEX named Aero, whose launch date has been set for October 21. The new DEX will cover Base, Ethereum Mainnet, OP, Arc, and Ink, plus newly added Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum. The AERO and VELO tokens will be consolidated into a single AERO token, with prior revenue allocated at a ratio of roughly 94.5% to AERO holders and 5.5% to VELO holders. Solana’s planned Alpenglow upgrade has been rolled out on devnet and testnet in succession, providing application teams with a testing environment ahead of the mainnet switch. The upgrade aims to cut transaction finalization time from the current ~12.8 seconds to around 150 milliseconds, drastically reducing the wait time for transactions to release deposits or for payment apps to notify merchants of completed trades. Solana development firm Anza announced on September 25 that the devnet had completed its switch; the testnet transition was finalized the day before, and the Solana Foundation’s upgrade page shows Alpenglow is active on both networks. Alpenglow changes how validators reach consensus on network records: validators will exchange votes directly instead of recording votes as transactions within blocks, condensing consensus into just one or two voting rounds. Removing these votes will also lower some Solana activity chart metrics: the total number of transactions including validator votes will decrease, even if actual payments and trading volumes remain unchanged.
