According to TradingBeats monitoring, Kioxia’s stock split triggered the unified settlement of KIOXIA perpetual contracts deployed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid. Old positions of on-chain accounts were settled at $338.38, with some positions still below their entry cost, turning unrealized losses into realized losses. Among the 20 settled accounts on the position leaderboard, 8 were settled at a loss, involving approximately $3.6785 million in positions, with confirmed losses of around $161,400; four of the top five accounts on the leaderboard exited at a loss, totaling approximately $2.8017 million in positions, with confirmed losses of about $80,300. A long position worth around $1.0473 million was the largest in the entire market, and the only whale position exceeding $1 million. The position held 3,094.963 contracts, with an entry cost of $343.99. The settlement price was only about 1.66% lower than the entry cost, resulting in a final confirmed loss of approximately $17,400 (0x053f).

Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research (GIR) Korean equity analyst Chris Cha said in a September 23 report that the KOSPI index is poised for a short-term "tactical breakout," but the ongoing flow of South Korean retail liquidity into the crypto market will make the index’s future upside more dependent on foreign investors and local institutional reallocations. The report noted that Federal Reserve rate concerns have been partially priced in, and risk appetite is shifting back to the "proxy AI" theme. South Korean memory chips will also provide fundamental support: Q4 DRAM contract prices are expected to rise double-digit quarter-over-quarter, while HBM4 production ramp-up will continue to constrain supply of standard server DRAM. Samsung Electronics’ large shareholder returns, consecutive institutional buying, and foreign investors turning net buyers could all push the KOSPI to test the 7,000–7,200 resistance zone. However, the report also warned that South Korean retail investors’ ability to absorb selling pressure is weakening. After Bitcoin returned to $85,000, crypto trading in South Korea heated up rapidly. Data from DefiLlama shows that Upbit’s single-day spot trading volume was around $770 million on June 13, rising to $1.817 billion on September 22, a roughly 136% increase. Based on the combined $3.27 billion trading volume of South Korea’s five major exchanges on September 22 cited in the report, Upbit alone accounts for more than half of the total, a clear sign that local South Korean risk capital is flowing back into digital assets. Goldman Sachs believes this will make the KOSPI’s future performance more dependent on foreign and institutional buying. October will be a key window to test whether foreign investors are willing to continue increasing their positions in South Korean semiconductor and AI assets.

According to HTX market data, altcoins rallied sharply this morning before pulling back in the afternoon. Leading early gainers have given back significant portions of their advances: QNT fell from $304 to $278, with its gain narrowing from 103% to 59%; JASMY’s gain shrank from 16% to 4%, and IMX’s from 17% to 6%. ORCA, NMR, ONDO, and NIGHT rose roughly 10% in early trading, with their gains now trimmed to single digits. Tokens including W, CETUS, JUP, SUI, MET, WOO, and CVX have given back their 24-hour gains. Relatively strong altcoins include AUDIO, which rose 14% in early trading and now has a 24-hour gain of 20%; ONE also rose 14% in early trading, with its 24-hour gain standing at 21% as it completes its catch-up rally. Niu Lai and MarsCoin (MARSCOIN) have performed strongly following news that Binance will support airdrop plans for holders of SpaceX (SPCXB) MarsCoin and Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQB) Niu Lai. MarsCoin currently has a market cap of ~$140 million, while Niu Lai’s market cap is ~$109 million.
