BlackRock: AI Popularization May Act as a Structural Catalyst for Digital Asset Adoption, With Stablecoins and Computing Power Assets Likely to Become Infrastructure for the AI Economy

Beating AI Express (Insight) – BlackRock’s latest report titled *The Machine-Native Economy* states that AI and digital assets are accelerating their integration: AI represents “machine-native intelligence”, while digital assets stand for “machine-native currency”. As AI agents begin to autonomously purchase services and initiate financial transactions, blockchain can provide machine-readable assets and programmable settlement infrastructure. BlackRock believes stablecoins may first become the primary transaction tool for agent commercial activities. Compared with traditional payment networks, blockchain is more suited for all-weather, high-frequency, small-value machine-to-machine payments. Data shows that as of September 2026, stablecoins’ circulating market capitalization exceeded $300 billion; adjusted trading volume in 2025 topped $11 trillion, with a compound annual growth rate of 80% from 2020 to 2025. Additionally, computing power may emerge as a large new market for digital assets. Analysts project that combined revenue from AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud could reach around $1.1 trillion by 2030. Going forward, computing power usage rights can be standardized and tokenized, used for transfer, collateralization and programmable settlement, while computing power futures may also support price discovery and risk hedging. BlackRock also notes that the liquidity of agent payments and computing power markets remains in the early stages, but as AI applications expand, digital assets may gradually become a critical infrastructure for the AI economy.
