US-listed company Lion Group Holding announced a strategic adjustment to part of its digital asset treasury. On September 29, the company sold its entire SOL holdings and a portion of its BTC holdings, using the proceeds to add approximately 38,102 HYPE tokens. Following the adjustment, Lion Group holds a total of around 232,900 HYPE tokens, with a holding value of approximately $20.1 million. The company stated that no existing HYPE was sold in this transaction, and the adjustment further increased HYPE’s concentration in its digital asset treasury, reflecting its continued confidence in Hyperliquid’s fundamentals and long-term potential. Lion Group also noted that Hyperliquid recently launched a manual lending feature allowing users to collateralize HYPE or BTC to borrow stablecoins; the platform’s open interest hit a new high at the end of September, HYPE has been listed on Binance’s spot market, and has received staking support from Gemini for eligible US clients. However, the company clarified that it does not make any judgments on the future performance of Hyperliquid or HYPE.

Hyperliquid co-founder Jeff Yan told attendees at Korea Blockchain Week that 24-hour continuous trading is not the true advantage distinguishing on-chain finance from traditional trading platforms. Crypto assets are inherently global, so they do not need to adhere to traditional market trading hours—though traditional exchanges are also extending their trading times. Yan emphasized that the most important advantage of on-chain finance is users’ ability to retain control and custody of their own funds. Self-custody mitigates common single points of failure during critical moments when counterparties, intermediaries, or custodians encounter issues. Another core strength of on-chain systems is transparency: users can theoretically monitor all activity within the system, a level of trust and neutrality that systems controlled by a single private entity cannot deliver. He added that 24/7 trading still has value for assets that lack public pricing when traditional markets are closed, including commodities, stocks, and pre-IPO assets. Yan further noted that private markets could be the next key asset class to implement all-day trading, as a globalized price discovery mechanism would enable more users to participate in these markets earlier, without being restricted to a single jurisdiction.

The U.S. core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index rose 3% year-over-year in August, hitting its lowest level since February and coming in below the market consensus of 3.3%. The prior reading was revised down from 3.3% to 3%. Month-over-month, the index increased 0.2%, also missing the 0.3% forecast. Full PCE rose 3.4% year-over-year and 0.3% month-over-month, both below market expectations. In the same period, U.S. personal spending rose 0.9% month-over-month in August, beating the 0.8% forecast. Inflation-adjusted real personal spending grew 0.6%, marking its largest monthly increase since March 2025. The combination of lower-than-expected inflation and resilient consumer spending has complicated the Federal Reserve’s assessment of its future policy path. Following the data release, U.S. short-term interest rate futures rose, as traders scaled back bets on a Fed interest rate hike in October. The CME FedWatch Tool shows the probability of the Fed holding rates steady in October is now 52.9%. U.S. two-year Treasury yields briefly fell more than 5 basis points to 4.843%, while spot gold rose over $20 to trade above $4,210. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) also adjusted the calculation methods for some PCE components this time, and it remains unclear how much these revisions impacted the final data.
