JPYC submits information to the Japan Fair Trade Commission regarding its JPY stablecoin payment incentives.

Japanese yen stablecoin issuer JPYC announced today that it submitted information to the Japan Fair Trade Commission on September 14, outlining the competitive landscape of cashless payments amid the growing adoption of stablecoin payments. Since its launch in October 2025, JPYC has been accepted at over 150 stores. As it enables direct value transfers via blockchain, it does not charge merchants merchant fees, resulting in significantly lower costs than existing cashless payment methods. Some stores aim to pass these cost savings to JPYC users, offering discounts, free shipping, and other perks, but worry this would violate credit card merchant agreements that prohibit surcharges, cash discounts, and inducements to use alternative payment methods. JPYC contends that accepting specific payment methods and setting pricing fall under merchants’ operational discretion, and passing on cost reductions to customers benefits both consumers and competition. The Japan Fair Trade Commission’s 2022 report also noted that blanket bans on such practices may in certain cases violate antitrust laws, a view that applies equally to stablecoin-related promotions.

US after-hours trading rebounds for semiconductor, optical communication, and storage-related concepts; LITE's CEO states that all optical device production capacity will have been fully sold out by early 2029.

According to market data from BIT (bit.com), semiconductor, optical communications and storage concepts rebounded in U.S. after-hours trading. Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) rose nearly 5%, while Lumentum (LITE) gained 3%. Michael Hurlston, CEO of leading optical communications firm Lumentum, said today that as tech companies race to build faster AI data centers, the company’s optical component production capacity has been fully booked through early 2029. For some products, about 70% of demand will still go unmet next year, and for others, 30% of demand will remain unsatisfied through 2028. Back in April this year, Hurlston had stated that he expected full-year 2028 production capacity would be fully booked within two quarters.

Anthropic leverages its free Claude AI to scan open-source vulnerabilities, uncovering over 29,000 suspected vulnerabilities.

Beating AI Express (Dongcha Insight) News: Anthropic has launched the Anthropic Cyber Mission cybersecurity initiative, alongside two new offerings: the free OSS Scanner vulnerability scanning service and a critical infrastructure defense program. The OSS Scanner leverages advanced models including Claude Mythos to regularly identify security vulnerabilities in eligible open-source software. The critical infrastructure program aims to help power grids, water utilities, and transportation systems fend off cyberattacks. Over the past six months, Anthropic used AI to detect more than 29,000 suspected vulnerabilities in open-source software, but only manually reviewed roughly 6,000 of them. The new service allows project maintainers to directly receive un-audited vulnerability reports, each containing reproduction steps, issue explanations, and remediation suggestions. Anthropic estimates over 90% of the reports are actual vulnerabilities, though it notes false positives may still occur. The new service currently requires project maintainers to apply proactively, targeting key open-source projects equipped to handle large volumes of vulnerability reports. Previous tests included projects like PostgreSQL and OpenSSL: of the 74 reports sent to wolfSSL, 72 were valid, and 5 vulnerabilities earned CVE IDs. For infrastructure, Anthropic has partnered with 11 firms including CrowdStrike, Accenture, and Hitachi. The company will provide partners with Claude models, on-site engineers, and security research support to help power, water, and transportation operators inspect and fix vulnerabilities. These industrial systems often struggle with downtime for updates, so actual repairs still require professional personnel involvement.

SpaceX's entry into the mobile carrier market boosts trading activity, with SPCX's on-chain daily trading volume exceeding $200 million.

SpaceX is set to acquire all rights to the nationwide 800MHz low-band spectrum portfolio held by Grain Management, covering up to 14MHz of paired spectrum. The seller issued an announcement at 04:17 Beijing Time today; the transaction remains subject to approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The core business focus of this deal is to enhance Starlink Mobile’s coverage capacity. SpaceX plans to combine its satellite-to-direct-mobile constellation with terrestrial networks to expand its presence among U.S. mobile operators. The company also noted that the FCC approved its deployment of 15,000 next-generation mobile communication satellites earlier this week. Trading volumes surged in the window following the news release. Per TradingBeats monitoring, based on the seller’s 04:17 announcement, the price of SPCX perpetual contracts on Hyperliquid rebounded from $160.89 to $164.54 in the four hours after, a rise of around 2.27%. The first hour saw a trading volume of roughly $23.57 million, up about 174.8% from the $8.58 million in the hour before the announcement. As of press time, SPCX is trading at approximately $165.54. Combined with the disclosure that Trump purchased senior unsecured notes from SpaceX, this has pushed the near-24-hour trading volume to exceed $205 million, with open interest hitting $124 million over the same period.
