NVIDIA reportedly halts production of the RTX 5090, its top-tier gaming graphics card ceding ground to high-priced professional GPUs.

Beating AI Express News reports that Nvidia may discontinue its most powerful consumer-grade graphics card, the RTX 5090, reallocating its core GB202 chips to higher-priced professional GPUs. Hardware leaker MEGAsizeGPU states all future production of the GB202 chip will be supplied exclusively to the RTX PRO series, no longer used for the RTX 5090. Another leaker, hongxing2020, shared what appears to be an internal factory notice, noting the China-exclusive variant of the RTX 5090 is also included in the discontinuation plan. The two graphics cards use the same family of GB202 chips but have drastically different price points. The RTX 5090 comes with 32GB of VRAM, launching at $1,999. The RTX PRO 6000, targeted at AI development, design, and rendering workloads, boasts 96GB of VRAM and is priced at $16,000 on Nvidia’s official website — eight times the cost of the RTX 5090. While price alone does not directly equate to profit, the high-end professional market clearly offers Nvidia far greater revenue potential. The RTX 5090 has already faced significant stock shortages in the U.S. market, with some third-party sellers even listing units for $9,600. If the discontinuation is confirmed, consumers will only be able to access remaining inventory moving forward. A more impactful change could be a step backward in GeForce flagship performance. Another leak claims Nvidia plans to launch a 24GB version of the RTX 5080, which will replace the RTX 5090 as its top-tier gaming graphics card. The current RTX 5080 has roughly half the number of CUDA cores as the RTX 5090, delivering around 30% lower 4K gaming performance. Even if the new model’s VRAM is increased to 24GB, it will still lag behind the RTX 5090’s 32GB of VRAM.

Amp has integrated with Claude's subscription service, directly replacing its underlying layer with Claude Code.

Beating AI Express: AI programming tool Amp has announced support for Claude Pro/Max subscriptions, with free access open to all users. To enable the feature, select the "Claude Code" mode when creating a new task and link your Claude account. Model usage will be charged directly to users’ existing subscription limits, so no separate credits need to be purchased from Amp. The new mode runs official Claude Code via the Claude Agent SDK, while preserving Amp’s existing features such as cloud PCs, task sharing, multi-person collaboration, and agent orchestration. Notably, only this new mode supports Claude subscriptions; Amp’s original Medium, High, and Ultra tiers are not included. Local operations are free, while cloud PC functionality remains a paid service. For context: Anthropic previously restricted third-party tools from using Claude subscriptions, paused related policy adjustments in June this year, and confirmed in October that third-party applications can still utilize subscription credits. However, the official developer documentation still requires third-party products to obtain prior approval before offering Claude login or subscription credit access.
