CoreWeave Seeks Insurance Funding to Support AI Expansion, Chip Financing Surpasses $35 Billion

Nvidia-backed AI cloud provider CoreWeave is looking to tap into the massive capital pools of insurance companies to lower its financing costs for purchasing AI chips and building infrastructure. Branin McBee, CoreWeave's co-founder and head of financing, said that if the company can secure investment-grade ratings for more of its chip-collateralized debt and ultimately improve its own credit rating, it will gain access to the insurance capital market. He noted that the insurance industry’s capital is “nearly unlimited,” as “the money sitting in insurance pools is one of the largest sources of capital in the world.” Earlier this year, CoreWeave secured an $8.5 billion loan backed by Nvidia chips and a long-term usage contract with Meta. CoreWeave’s next step is to attract insurance companies to purchase loans backed by lower-credit clients, such as financing for AI labs. So far this year, the company has raised over $35 billion through chip-collateralized loans, high-yield bonds, convertible bonds, and stock offerings. As of the end of June, the company’s total debt and lease obligations stood at approximately $52 billion.

Mark Newton, an analyst at Tom Lee’s fund, said in an interview that global stock markets will consolidate in the short term before a stronger rally. Global equities will see robust performance from November to April, and a weaker U.S. dollar will also benefit emerging markets. Newton noted that “now is not the time to panic,” adding that the pullback between late October and November could create the best buying opportunity of this cycle.

According to TradingBeats monitoring, against the backdrop of widespread market expectations that the Fed will pause interest rate hikes in October, cross-market trader greater-fools is still increasing its bearish bets on Bitcoin (BTC). The account has cumulatively invested around $4,381 since yesterday, adding two new bearish BTC predictions in the prediction market: - "BTC will fall to $65,000 by the end of the year" (Yes): Added around 11,000 contracts, invested about $2,639; current total position stands at roughly 136,100 contracts, with an implied probability of around 22.5% and a position value of approximately $30,600. - "BTC will fall to $70,000 by the end of the year" (Yes): Added 4,510 contracts, invested about $1,742; current total position is around 55,800 contracts, with an implied probability of roughly 35.5% and a position value of about $19,800. Meanwhile, the account still holds 26.97 BTC short positions on Hyperliquid, with a notional value of around $2.2528 million, an average entry price of roughly $69,962, and is currently facing an unrealized loss of approximately $365,200. After the release of U.S. September CPI data tonight, if inflation comes in higher than expected and prompts the market to reprice the monetary tightening path, this could become a short-term pressure factor for BTC.
