Ledger launches Atom Android device, introduces new tamper-proof protection features.

Crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has launched the Atom Android device at the Op3n event in Paris. The limited-edition founder version is priced at $849, with a fully refundable $100 deposit required for pre-orders; the regular retail price will be $899 after launch. Delivery is slated for summer 2027, pending completion of certification. Atom uses an FPGA chip to isolate its Android environment from a secure mode dedicated to transaction auditing and signing, while supporting standard Android applications. Solana Mobile plans to integrate its wallet and dApp Store into the Seeker app, which will connect to Atom, with transaction signing handled by the secure mode. The device will also come pre-installed with OpenClaw, a tool that lets users review transactions proposed by AI agents via Agent Intent, without exposing private keys to the agents. Addressing recent hardware wallet tampering incidents, Ledger stated that Atom can detect acts including screen removal, casing disassembly, and core area drilling. Anti-tamper sensors remain powered by an independent battery even when the device is turned off. The company added that its core protection features can block the screen-reading implant attack observed in the recent incidents. The device will be sold exclusively through Ledger’s official website.

Inflation pressure continues to build, as U.S. September PPI data surges.

Driven by rising energy costs, the U.S. September Producer Price Index (PPI) exceeded expectations across the board, signaling that the impact of higher energy prices is spreading to all sectors of the U.S. economy. Data released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the September PPI rose 1.3% month-over-month and 6.3% year-over-year. Excluding food and energy, core PPI increased by 0.7% month-over-month and 5% year-over-year. The report noted that alongside rising fuel prices, underlying inflationary pressures in the U.S. remain persistent. With the November midterm elections just weeks away, the burden of rising living costs has become a central campaign issue. This data could also prompt Federal Reserve officials to continue raising interest rates in the coming months, particularly as another report released Wednesday showed a key U.S. consumer price metric rose faster than expected in September. The report also indicated that price pressures are expected to stay elevated in the coming months. A gauge measuring input price expectations over the next six months rose to its highest level since 2022.

Ledger launches AI agent authorization tool Agent Intent, enabling users to approve operations while retaining control over their private keys.

Crypto hardware wallet maker Ledger has announced the launch of Ledger Agent Intent, which is now available for free to all Ledger-compatible signing devices. The AI agent can monitor markets and offer portfolio optimization suggestions; users review and approve related operations on their Ledger devices, with private keys remaining fully under their control. Ledger notes that Agent Intent will integrate directly with OpenClaw, allowing users to register and authorize OpenClaw agents on Ledger Atom devices, where the OpenClaw app will be pre-installed. The tool also supports the Solana Foundation’s Pay.sh, with requests from the agent entering a unified queue that users can choose to sign at their preferred time. On the privacy front, Ledger has partnered with Venice AI. The company states that while the agent leverages AI capabilities, user data will not be used as training data for third-party models.
