Zhipu AI's new model has been leaked to feature up to 3.5 trillion parameters, and is expected to reach the performance level of Anthropic's Claude Fable.

Beating AI Express (Dongcha) reports that an expert interview transcript circulating in investment communities claims Zhipu AI’s next-generation base model does not carry the previously rumored 1.6 trillion parameters, but ranges from 2.5 trillion to 3.5 trillion parameters. Zhipu’s GLM-5.3, released in August this year, still uses the previous-generation base model, with around 744 billion parameters. If the news is accurate, the new base model’s scale will expand to roughly 3.4 to 4.7 times that of the current version. However, the training process has not been smooth. The transcript states Zhipu adopted a more aggressive model architecture this time, leading to a period during pre-training where the loss did not decrease – meaning continuous computing power investment failed to improve training metrics. The interviewee believes the issue has likely been resolved recently, with training expected to wrap up soon, and predicts the new model will reach the flagship level of Anthropic’s Claude Fable. The new model also aims to solve the common problem of large language models being "launchable but not supply-ready" after release. The transcript notes Zhipu has set inference speed and cost as hard constraints from the architectural design phase, targeting large-scale service availability on launch day. Multiple cloud vendors are already in discussions over revenue sharing.

Bria has trained an 8B-parameter image model using licensed data, matching Qwen in performance; it is open-source but cannot be used directly for commercial purposes.

Beating AI News (Dongcha) – AI image company Bria has launched Fibo 2.0, an 8-billion-parameter model that is the first to integrate text-to-image and image editing capabilities into a single model. Users can edit photos via natural language prompts, or use structured JSON to specify character positions, lighting, and text, minimizing the risk of disrupting other areas when making edits. It also supports mask editing and multi-image reference. Bria has also released a full developer (Dev) version, plus Edit Turbo, an image-editing-accelerated tool that runs inference in just 4 steps. In Artificial Analysis' AA-Image-Editing v2.1 benchmark, Fibo 2.0 tops the open-source model ranking with an Elo score of 1087, slightly edging out Qwen-Image-2.1's 1083. For text-to-image benchmarks, Qwen leads with 1042 points, compared to Fibo's 1039. The gaps in both metrics are not statistically significant, meaning the two models are essentially in the same tier. Fibo 2.0 is trained exclusively on licensed images. Bria has previously partnered with copyright holders including Getty Images, paying for training materials. The model weights are released under the CC BY-NC 4.0 non-commercial license: developers can download them for research and fine-tuning, while commercial use requires a separate agreement with Bria.

iPhone Duo enforces global purchase limits, with each customer allowed to buy only 2 units.

Apple's China official website shows that the iPhone Duo will be released on October 23, with a 2-unit purchase limit per customer. Apple's customer service stated that this purchase restriction applies globally, though the company did not specify the reason. The China domestic price of the iPhone Duo ranges from 15,999 yuan to 26,499 yuan, with pre-orders opening on October 16. The root cause of the iPhone Duo's supply shortage lies in the process challenges of foldable screens. According to supply chain sources, the mass production yield of the iPhone Duo is only 65%, with a daily output of just a few hundred units, and mass production is ramping up slowly. The complexity of processes such as hinge assembly and flexible screen bonding means initial supply cannot be scaled up quickly. (Jiemian News)

ZachXBT: An institutional wallet was drained of 973,000 MORPHO tokens, valued at approximately $2.3 million.

On-chain detective ZachXBT reported that two addresses belonging to an institution had a combined 973,000 MORPHO tokens stolen hours ago, valued at approximately $2.3 million. The stolen funds have been deposited into Tornado Cash. Both thefts involved EIP-7702 account delegation transactions. Per ZachXBT’s tracking, the entity linked to one of the hacked addresses was also targeted in a $3.5 million hack on October 9. That earlier batch of assets came from claims on an old cross-chain bridge, then was cross-bridged from Ethereum to Zcash via NEAR Intents before entering the Ironwood privacy pool. ZachXBT further noted that the hacked address has an on-chain association with an address suspected to belong to Nima Capital.
