According to Bloomberg, prediction market platform Kalshi has struck a new deal with crypto asset custodian BitGo, allowing select clients to borrow funds using their custodied crypto assets as collateral, with the loan proceeds serving as margin for leveraged perpetual futures trading on Kalshi’s exchange. The arrangement is targeted at clients of Kalshi Prime, Kalshi’s U.S.-registered futures commission merchant, and adopts a tri-party collateral management structure. Loans are provided by Kalshi’s affiliated lending firm Kalshi Katalyst, while collateral assets are held at BitGo Bank & Trust. Eligible collateral includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins compliant with the GENIUS Act, with plans to integrate additional custodians in the future. Jeff Bandman, CEO of Kalshi Prime, stated that the setup enables clients to participate in trading without liquidating their crypto holdings, which may attract crypto-native trading firms and large digital asset holders (whales).
