US Stock Market Close: AI and crypto-related stocks rose across the board, with MSTR and SPCX surging over 7%.

According to BIT (bit.com) market data, U.S. stocks closed higher: the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose approximately 0.69%, the S&P 500 gained around 0.58%, and the Nasdaq increased by about 1.05%. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) closed down roughly 3.64% to 16.68. Most optical communication concept stocks closed higher: Credo (CRDO) rose around 6.3%, Ciena (CIEN) gained about 5.7%, Lumentum (LITE) increased by roughly 3.4%, Coherent (COHR) was up approximately 2.5%, and Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) rose around 0.8%. Semiconductor stocks closed higher: AMD gained about 3.4%, ASML (ASML) rose approximately 2.8%, NVIDIA (NVDA) increased by roughly 2.5%, Arm was up around 2.5%, Micron (MU) rose about 2.0%, Marvell (MRVL) gained approximately 1.8%, TSMC (TSM) increased by roughly 1.6%, Intel (INTC) rose around 1.4%, and Broadcom (AVGO) was up about 1.0%. Storage stocks closed higher: Western Digital (WDC) rose approximately 3.9%, Seagate (STX) gained around 3.2%, SK Hynix (SKHY) increased by roughly 2.5%, and SanDisk (SNDK) rose about 0.9%. Crypto-related concept stocks strengthened: BNB Standard (BNC) jumped over 11%, Strategy (MSTR) rose around 7.5%, Bitmine (BMNR) gained approximately 5.0%, Circle (CRCL) increased by roughly 4.5%, MARA was up about 4.1%, Robinhood (HOOD) rose around 3.8%, and Coinbase (COIN) gained approximately 3.6%. Among large tech stocks: Tesla (TSLA) rose around 3.4%, Apple (AAPL) gained about 1.3%; Alphabet (GOOGL) fell roughly 1.6%, while SpaceX (SPCX) jumped 7.79%.

Mizuho: Robinhood’s single-stock perpetual futures will boost its share price, reiterating an "Outperform" rating and a $140 price target.

Mizuho Securities' survey of over 600 active Robinhood users found that 94% of respondents said they were likely or very likely to trade single-stock perpetual futures if the platform launched such products. Another 84% noted they would use new funds primarily or exclusively for these trades, indicating limited cannibalization of existing stock trading by the products. Mizuho Managing Director Dan Dolev said in a Wednesday report that this potential demand is "a strong positive factor". The firm reiterated its "Outperform" rating and $140 price target for Robinhood (HOOD), adding that single-stock perpetual futures could launch in the medium term, though exact timing remains uncertain. Robinhood previously announced on September 29 that it planned to roll out perpetual futures trading to U.S. users in the coming months, alongside all-day trading for some U.S. stocks. However, company executives have recently said there are no single-stock perpetual futures plans to disclose at this time. Coinbase’s recent application to launch perpetual futures linked to large-cap U.S. stocks also signals growing market interest in such products.

Decentralized AI data network Dataline has completed a $10.6 million seed round, with plans to launch its token and kick off a public token sale within the year.

According to The Block, decentralized data network for AI agents Dataline has closed a $10.6 million seed funding round, co-led by Lattice and Samsung-backed Dispersion Capital, with participation from Symbolic Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Anagram, and Robinhood co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev, among others. Multiple unnamed investors also joined, including a former CFTC chief, as well as founders or partners from institutions like Venmo, Anchorage Digital, NEA, General Catalyst, Jump Capital, and FalconX. The round closed in April this year, structured as a SAFE with token warrants; valuation was not disclosed, and investors did not secure board seats, observer positions, or advisory roles. Dataline co-founder Nuo Shi noted that the platform is already live, covering around 50 data sources, with initial partners for its "AI Data Launch" initiative including Hyperliquid, Polymarket, Kalshi, Base, Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain, Sui, and TON. Developers on Base and Robinhood Chain get free access. The company plans to launch its token by the end of this year, with a public token offering set to run on Base via Uniswap’s Continuous Clearing Auction (CCA); details are expected to be announced next week. The funding will be used to expand data sources, strengthen data verification, and expand into use cases such as robotics and AI training data.

Meta announced plans to introduce new non-voting shares, a move signaling the company may heavily rely on new stock issuances to fund its artificial intelligence (AI) buildout. The plan would allow Meta to issue new shares for acquisitions, hiring top AI talent, and covering chip costs, without diluting Mark Zuckerberg’s control. Alphabet took a similar step in 2014, implementing a 1-for-2 stock split that introduced non-voting shares alongside its super-voting stock, keeping combined control of co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at just over 50%. This flexibility enabled Alphabet to easily issue $85 billion in new shares earlier this year to fund AI investments, with half of those shares being non-voting. The decision stems from "heavy capex tied to AI research". Earnings data shows Meta raised its capex guidance from a low of $130 billion to $135 billion, with a high of $145 billion. Third-quarter capex exceeded $40 billion, compared to less than $19 billion in the year-ago period, while free cash flow stood at -$2.12 billion, versus $10.63 billion in the same quarter last year.

The Sui Foundation will invest $30 million in DATA Network, formerly known as Story, which is migrating to the Sui network.

According to official announcements, the Sui Foundation and DATA Foundation announced on October 12 that the Sui Foundation will invest $30 million in DATA Network (formerly Story) and become the network’s largest institutional holder. Per the announcement, DATA Network will upgrade to a protocol natively running on Sui, with its existing independent chain set to be retired after the upgrade is completed. DATA tokens will undergo a 1:1 migration, and holders’ economic rights and governance rights will remain at least equivalent to their current levels; arrangements for locked and vesting tokens will stay unchanged. The announcement also noted that Walrus will become the default storage layer for applications under DATA Foundation, and the Trace registry system will integrate into the Sui ecosystem. DATA Network will continue operating until the upgrade is finalized, with a detailed timeline and holder transition plan to be released ahead of the upgrade.

Genius Yield, a protocol in the Cardano ecosystem, announces it will gradually cease operations.

Cardano ecosystem protocol Genius Yield CTO Lars Brünjes announced on social media that the project is gradually winding down operations. To prevent user assets from being trapped, it has developed the open-source web application Genius Zero (MIT license), which allows users to directly interact with smart contracts in browsers to complete operations such as unstaking, without relying on Genius Yield’s backend. Reward collection still requires a multi-signature service run by Brünjes himself, and is limited to rewards that have already been funded on-chain. Existing DEX order book fees remain valid; modifications require signatures from three of the four founders, a change that has not yet been approved.
